The farm affiliates pulled out all the dramatic cliches en route to a 5-1 evening. Big leads almost blown in the nervous ninth. Walk-off homers. Walk-off baserunner kills. Let's hope the big boys were watching.

Syracuse 3 Scranton Wilkes-Barre 6

Some errors are more costly than others. How's this one? On a throwing error by third baseman Bryant Nelson with the bases loaded in a 1-1 game, all three runners scored. Ouch. Zach Jackson struggled, allowing 12 baserunners in 6.1 innings. Jamie Vermilyea continued his adjustment to triple A with 1.2 perfect innings, including a strikeout. Gabe Gross went 3-4 with a double and an HBP. He's now hitting .301; his OBP was at .377 before the game, so he's cleared .380. Guillermo Quiroz went 0-3.

For those that may be interested in such a thing, the Lasning game may be interesting today. Eric Nielsen plowed the Beloit catcher over with the deciding run yesterday. The problem was that he pretty much had to go out of his way to do and the it caused the benches to clear. There were no punches thrown, but this such may not be over. Nielsen came up in the bottom of the eighth again and the catcher and him had words again, but it was a close game. If Nielsen plays today, he will more than likely be hit in his first plate appearance and then we will see if he runs down to first and that is the end of it or if it escalates to something further. Oh yeah, Chi-Hung Cheng is pitching as well....
