Towers battled valiantly through 6 innings, but Al Leiter took a day off from being washed up to shut the Jays down for 5-2/3. Torre had to call on Mo for the final out, but the offence once again missed several earlier opportunities to get into it.

I missed pretty much all of this game.

What a bizarro weekend -- I was thinking that the Jays would get to feast on two below-average pitchers sandwiched around Randy Johnson and would therefore be hard pressed to sweep but should probably win Friday and Sunday.

Still, Saturday was so damn great. What a game.

I learned one thing from this game. The Skysnacks at section 539 are considerably more expensive than anywhere else. I cannot figure it out.

Tyler, where were you?

Mike Wilner's interview with Gibby was the funniest thing I've heard since...well, I might just call it the funniest thing ever. (Note: none of these are exact quotes.)

-----
"Weirdest mound conversation?"
"One manager once told a pitcher who didn't speak English that the sky was blue...he got out of the inning very fast."
-----
"Dumbest money you've ever seen a ballplayer spend?"
"Billy Beane bought a raccoon once."
-----
"Your favourite comfort food?"
"Oh, a hot fudge sundae. Or a cheeseburger."
"Or both?"
"Yeah, both. With fries."
-----

You know, they say a lineup of nine raccoons are, some by measure, the best offense in baseball.

Gibby is a riot for sure. But I don't think he's very well perceived by many fans. When he came out to argue Koskie's strikeout, all I heard was "Shut up Gibbons" and "Sit Down Gibbons". And they weren't Yankee fans saying this.

When I was in Chicago and Ozzie went out to argue the ump's strike zone, the crowd was absolutely cheering him on and was really on his side. Now I know, the fan's love of Ozzie comes from elsewhere and the fact the team is quite successful, but I'm not feeling the support for the Jay's management that I know is deserved.

Oh and btw, Ozzie's argument on Tuesday was purely to get his team and the fans riled up. They're good, but that whole place is a circus.

Tigers designated hitter Dmitri Young, whose $8 million option in 2006 is about to vest automatically, is a veteran player who is expected to pass through waivers and be available for a trade this month. The switch-hitting Young would be a nice addition for any contender seeking a big bat before the postseason.

Another snippet trolling the wires tonight. I-Rod is planning on serving his four game suspension during the upcoming series with the Jays.

Thanks for that Ivan.

Any idea where we can get a copy of the Gibbons interview?
