It took 11 tries and almost four months, but Dave Bush has his first win of the season. The offense broke up a close game by putting up six runs in the fifth inning. And everybody hit - except the new guy. Aaron Hill, 3-27 in his last seven games, is going through his first slump. Awww...
Nice to see Bush have a good start, even if it was KC, pretty much ensures hes staying up, at least for another 5 days.
Also nice to see Hinske hit a big double. Hopefully the little resurgence he is having continues.

yea, good game for the jays all around, besides hill continuing his slump.
I hope this slump of his doesn't continue, I was beginning to think he was the real deal (not saying he isn't)

He's the real deal, but not in the sense that he's going to maintain a .345 average for his career. It's a slump, a phase, and he'll get out of it as quickly as he got into it.
Nice solid start from Bush....he struggled early controlling his fastball, but he settled in nicely. I'm afraid that teams better than the Royals won't ever let him settle in like that when he's struggling. Hopefully, at least, he gets some confidence out of 7 strong MLB innings.
The question, when you look at the upcoming schedule, is whether we can trust Bush enough to put Walker back in the bullpen NOW. With two off days in the next two weeks, we could potentially go with 4 starters. It would be nice to have Walker back in the pen, where guys are starting to get overworked.
I'll end, of course, with a Run Differential update:
1) STL: +116
2) CHW: +81
2) ATL: +81
4) LAA: +71
5) TOR: +60
6) BOS: +59
7) NYY: +36
7) MIN: +36
9) HOU: +35
9) CLE: +35

Walker's peripherals this year have not been good (low K rate, low K/BB ratio, high HR/IP ratio). I believe he is a time bomb as a starter and would happily see him flipped for Bush.
Walker experienced success in long relief (in spite of his peripherals) and that's where he should be returned.
I have no difficulty in imagining (though I'm not rooting for) an implosion over the latter half of the season. I can't imagine him making the 2006 staff.
