He sat down, stared into the fire for a few seconds, and then said, "It begins, I suppose, with --- with a person called --- but it's incredible yeh don't know his name, everyone in our world knows---"
"Who?"
"Well --- I don' like sayin' the name if I can help it. No one does."
"Why not?"
"Gulpin' gargoyles, Harry, people are still scared."

Josh Towers could not overcome the evil one, who used both his arm and his bat to overcome the forces of Light and Goodness. We live in dark and desperate times.

The road malaise has to be cured somehow. This looked like an extension of the Houston series. A very depressing loss...

This is baseball everyone, although when Voldeymort over here cashes in two, you can't help but be a little frustrated.

No one says it was going to be easy.

Just thought I'd pass along that Jeff Blair did seem confident that the Blue Jays will trade for a middle lineup bat by the trade deadline, today on the FAN 590. He mentioned Orlando Hudson as possible trade bait.

There was some awful hitting with runners on base today. It was painful watching the Jays strand men at first and second inning after inning. In a nice summary of the Jays woes, V-Dub goes 3 for 4 but in his most important at-bat of the game watches the last two strikes go right down the heart of the plate and doesn't take his bat off his shoulder.

It's incredibly frustrating that this game was lost, in essence, on one bad pitch to he-who-must-not-be-named.

Nice intro, Magpie.

Are you talking about Antonio Veyna?

"who used both his arm and his bat ..."

In keeping with the theme of the intro, you probably should have gone with "wand" rather than "bat."

Wait! Does this mean that Loaiza will be magically appearing on the backs of people's heads as youknowwho did in the book?

1) .295/.392/.518
2) .322/.382/.498

Both are 1B, both are available.

One of them is significantly more talked about, who is considered a HOF candidate, the other is just a "nice guy", who is overpaid.

Both are the career Road splits for each player (almost the same amount of games played).

1) Todd Helton (3 years and some 50 million owed)
2) Sean Casey (10 million, expiring contract).

Point of this post was to get you all on the Sean Casey bandwagon! Lets get him and lock him up as a 1B option, chances are the guy is signing for Koskie dollars.

I still can't get Ryan Howard off my mind. I wonder if the Phillies would entertain the thought of ODog and Hinske for him if we bite some of his salary. Hinske would make a good utility player and O-Dog's D would salivate the mouths of National League fans.

While I would love to add Ryan Howard to the organization, I can't see Philly making a trade for anything that does not involve pitching. They recently traded Placido Polanco to make room for Chase Utley at 2B, so I doubt Hudson would interest them.

They would consider a trade for an outfielder or pitcher, though. How about Wells and a mid-range prospect (ie Ramirez, Gaudin, etc) for Howard and another prospect?

Jason Micheals is the future in the OF for the Phils, while Lofton is having an absolutely stellar season. Abreu/Burrell are locks on the corners for the next god knows how many years, they have absolutely no reason to want Wells.

Of course really where they need help is the starting Pitching, for the NL they've got probably one of the best all around offenses positionally you can find.

I think you guys are seriously underestimating Wells. There is no way JP trades Wells for Ryan Howard. I dont like any of the proposed returns for Wells in our recent poll. JP better not trade Wells unless he is blown away
