Roy Halladay wasn't bad, he just wasn't brilliant. Carlos Lee came into the game with 2 HRs in 16 ABs against Doc, and he hit another. Ben Sheets made it stand up.-
This game was alot closer than actuality. The bases were loaded in the 8th and 9th, and if Rios doesn't swing at the first pitch he sees in the bottom of the ninth, who knows. Somebody's been watching too much footage of Delgado vs. Guardado...
Although we're facing Milwaukee, if we can take two out of three against Milwaukee, it's a job well done. We're missing our two best hitters, and we're not even an offensivley based team. The simple fact that we racked up 9 runs on Friday is an accomplishment on its own.
I really hope that the people that booed Doc after allowing the Lee home run are so angry that they never come back. That's just not right. If anything, we should've clapped since he's gone such a long time with so much success and that all good things must come to an end.
Knowing Josh Towers' inconsistency, he'll probably throw a no-hitter or something ridiculous like that tomorrow.

Doc looked pretty terrible in the first inning, I must say.
Overall, it was a subpar outing, despite not allowing much of anything between the second and fifth inning. He absolutely got rocked in the first, and even the liner he snared in the second was hit extremely hard. He settled down, but for Doc it must have been a real disappointment.

I think the bigger disappointment is the Jays once again producing nothing against Sheets. What good is swinging early in the count to avoid strikeouts if it doesn't produce anything? The best threats the Jays mounted were when they waited out Sheets and made him get deep into counts.
But clearly the lineup isn't near good enough as constructed.

That was Ben Sheets' way of saying "JP, why didn't you make me a Jay, now I have to play for the Brewers, why JP".

The jays had plenty of opportunity to score in this game, they just couldn't come up with the hit to do it. they left the bases loaded twice late in the game (as NFH mentioned) and i'm pretty sure they left them loaded, or with 2 on at least a couple of times before that.
Aside from the first inning Doc was solid. He still managed to strike out 8 in 6 innings, it was just the 40 pitch first inning that hurt him.
If only they'd left turnbow in for one more batter :o
