Forgive me, I forgot to activate comments. It's 12:45 and I'm an old fogey, sorry.

I can't help feeling worried about Towers. He has really struggled for the past three games. After tonights game he said he was struggling and felt weak. We're not going to stay in the race long with only Halladay Chacin pitching well. Our bullpen has been good lately, but won't remain so if they keep having to fill in for Towers and Lilly. From that perspective, sending Bush down and bringing up Gaudin was a necessary relief. Should the Jays be looking at replacing Towers or will he right himself? Are Walker and Downs possible replacements or would this weaken the bullpen too much? I don't think there are any immediate answers at AAA forcing Towers out of his job, but I don't have much desire to still see him in the starting rotation in July, especially considering how he weakened in the second half of last year.

Well you could call up Rosario and cross your fingers. I don't think he'd do particularly well but he has the stuff to fake it for a bit.

I was frustrated when the bases were loaded in the 7th with only 1 out and the Jays couldn't even cash in one run.

I know the catcher position (especially the backup) isn't one where you generally expect offence but by playing Huckaby you're basically giving up an out.

I've been feeling frustarted the past couple of games because I feel like the Jays should be making up ground on the rest of the AL East but it isn't really happening.

On the plus side Walker has a very nice scoreless inning streak going on.

Steve Phillips was on SC last night and said Batista is potential trade bait.

Can someone please explain to me how a guy who only hits .150 can play in the major leagues? (i.e. Huckaby) His defence aint that good...

And for me, Josh Towers is the Jonas Hoglund of this team... it's inevitable that he'll be gone (and thank goodness for that!)

Steve Phillips was speculating or did he get this information from somewhere?
SK in NJ - Friday, June 03 2005 @ 11:55 AM EDT (#118520) #
I didn't see it, but I'd imagine Phillips was speculating.

Batista has a 1.61 ERA and an opponents OPS of .487 to go with 9 saves in 10 chances. If there was ever a time to get maximum value for Batista, it is now. But the question becomes, if one of the team's holes is relief ace, and Batista could possibly fill that area for one more season at a known rate ($4.75M), should the team trade him? I guess the cliche answer is, "if the right package comes along", and I agree with that.

"Steve Phillips was speculating or did he get this information from somewhere?"

He was speculating.

I'd trade Batista in a heartbeat if the right deal comes along.
