The Chiefs offensive woes continued Thursday. This season the Chiefs have been in a feast or famine mode offensively, and after a feast over the last few days it was famine time. The Chiefs managed five hits off Brian Rose and three relievers, and did not have two hits in any inning. Chad Mottola was the only Chief with two hits.

Chad Gaudin started and did not have his best stuff, in 5.2 innings he allowed eight hits and three walks and gave up single runs in the fourth, and sixth innings. Jason Arnold gave up the third run in the seventh.

Bowie 10 New Hampshire 3 - continuation of suspended game

Bowie 1 New Hampshire 3 - scheduled game

New Hampshire and Bowie's first order of business yesterday was to complete the suspended game from Wednesday night. That game had been suspended due to rain in the fifth inning with Bowie ahead 4-2. Jordan DeJong completed the top of the fifth, and pitched the sixth before "blowing up good" in the seventh. Bowie scored six runs with the first six hitters of the inning are recording hits. Ismael Ramirez took the loss.

Game two was scoreless through five and a half innings. Vince Perkins made his second start since coming off the DL and was strong once again. On May 21 Perkins pitched five innings allowing one run on one hit. Yesterday he pitched six innings with four hits and two walks. Perkins also had five strikeouts. For the season, over nine starts, Perkins has these numbers: 46 IP; 39 H; 22 BB; 40 K. Perkins is similar to Rosario, a hard throwing pitcher who is refining his control, and like Rosario, Perkins looks to be getting close. Once he gets his walks down by about 25% he should be pushing Banks and Marcum for a shot at AAA.

Perkins escaped a jam in the fifth, runners on first and third with no outs. A strikeout of ex-major leaguer Peter Bergeron, followed by a double play got him out of the jam. In the bottom of the sixth Maikel Jova singled and Ron Acuna followed with a walk. Raul Tablado doubled them both home. Rob Cosby followed with a single to make it 3-0. Lee Gronkiewicz gave up a two out homer while recording the save.

Daytona 0 Dunedin 9

Like the parent club Dunedin struck early and often yesterday, five runs in the second, with three more in the fifth, made it an easy game with Zach Jackson on the mound. In the second inning three singles and an error scored two runs, and Carlo Cota followed with a three run home run. In the fifth Cota singled and Adam Lind hit his second home run of the year. The Jays added another run in the fifth and Eric Arnold hit a home run in the seventh.

Zach Jackson had another excellent start, 8 innings, four hits, no walks and eight strikeouts. Carlo Cota carried the big stick, 4-5, a home run, two runs scored and three RBI's.

Lansing 13 Quad Cities 4

Lansing scored in each inning from the third to the seventh in laying the wood on Quad Cities. Lansing actually trailed after three innings by a 3-2 score, but the deficit was quickly eliminated. Danny Core started for Lansing and had another sub-par performance, four runs allowed in five innings with two home runs. Daryl Harang pitched three strong innings in relief.

Lansing got on the board in the third when Chip Cannon doubled home Curtis Thigpen and Juan Peralta. In the fourth David Hicks doubled and scored on a single by Yuber Rodriguez. Cory Patton hit a three run jack in the fifth and followed with two sac fly's later in the game to give him five RBI's on one hit. Lansing had fifteen hits, Jason Armstrong had three, while Thigpen, Cannon, Hicks and Klosterman had two hits each.
