I love the timing, but I find the noise does take away from it. I understand that it can't be avoided, and I admit I haven't taken a shot like that, though, so I am jealous.
I'm guessing the Dome was closed, eh? Is this the same camera as the Hill shot, or the other one?
Same camera, but it's both cropped more and a higher speed film. The dome was open, but at this point the sky was very overcast.
So basically, it's a grainier film shot under tougher conditions and then cropped, all three of which increase the amount of visible grain. I can reduce it in Photoshop, but I find the results are often too mushy looking.
If I had more NPZ, I would have shot it exclusively. The Press 1600 was film I had left over from another job and would not have been my first choice, but shooting 20 rolls of NPZ would have been $167.80 just for the film, and my budget was "what film can I find left over in my fridge".
I find that the results look much better printed than on the internet, at least in part because the low resolution of the internet image emphasizes the grain.
I could also cheat it and size the image down a lot further to hide the grain, but where's the fun in that?
