With the Photo of the Day mojo so freakishly effective that I'm now afraid to talk about it for fear of messing it up, I've been looking through my pictures for some guys who could use a little boost.

So, here's a photograph of Russ Adams that Mrs. Hank likes a lot:

I'd love to know what's going on in Russ's head these days. He seems far less confident than he did last September. Then, he exuded a forceful presence and struck balls with authority. Now, he seems to be tentative at the plate and in the field. Mickey, do some magic.

Very shy at the plate right now...

He hasn't driven a ball in a while

Remind me to stop drafting Jays shortstops in BBFL- first Woodward, now Adams. He'll come around, right?

This is the ultimate mojo test.

Adams started last year really slow for Syracuse as well and really turned on his hitting down the stretch to end up around .290 and it carried over to September in the major leagues. Like Brandon League, after a complete off-season it seems he's lost that groove he had.

His swing just seems a little out of sorts and he appears to be upper cutting the ball and hitting a lot of lazy flies and soft grounders. I think he has to hit the ball more on a line to all fields and spray the ball a bit more. He's seemed really pull conscious early on and he has to be an all fields hitter.

This is the ultimate mojo test.

Paging Mr. Wells.....

Some web-blog would like to do a week-long photo spread on you...something about "mojo"?

I wonder if he doesn't have a little "Hinske-itis" of last year, where he's focusing so much on his defense that his hitting has suffered as a result. I also know he raised expectations beyond what could reasonably expected with how he pounded the ball in September. His defense has been superior to what I expected, his range in particular is fantastic and better than any Toronto SS in a long-time. his throws leave a lot to be desired, but it's not something that hard work and lots of repititions can't correct. With Johnny Mac and O-Dog showing him the ropes, I'd expect to see a big improvement in his defense over the course of the next year.

"R. Adams singled to pitcher, E. Hinske scored, A. Rios to second"

Amazing, just amazing. Thank you NFH!

Adams had the game RBI. Fullstop.
The Big Guy has something to do with this.

The deciding infield hit and a key double play turned late in the game. That's ok for a start!

And Adams goes 2 for 3. The spirit of the picture is alive once more.

No word on his ass, however.
