Senators pitch another shutout.
Pistol Nine shoot into lead.
Magic 9 mystify Hee Seop Choi.

Business travel, a balky computer, and some ugly formatting result in an abbreviated roundup this week. Excel shut down and took the Barfield stats with it. I will post some stats tonight if I have time. Please fill the gap with your tales of wonder and woe.

I think we'll see that the Pistol Nine added a couple more games to the luck rankings.

Awards!

Bonds: Brad Hawpe - 6/6/0 .474/.474/1.000
Neifi: Alex Gonzalez - 1/3/0 .130/.200/.217
Pedro: Eaton - 5/1/0, 1.80/1.40/1.00 (no real standouts this week)
Lima: Street - 2/0/0, 13.50/3.00/3.00

This is the second consectutive week that my pitcher has gone from Pedro to Lima. Hopefully Street won't be send down like Gavin 'Pink' Floyd was.
R Billie - Monday, April 25 2005 @ 12:24 PM EDT (#113499) #
What's the record for steals in a week? The Fish Candy stole 12 against me this week. I had 5 which is usually enough to win. He got 6 out of Torii Hunter alone.

So that happened and for some reason I started Padilla twice.

The Decepticons now inhabit the basement of the Alomar household. A 10-2 trouncing at the hands of gashouse officially means that the charmed life the Decepticons led in Barfield last year has officially ended. Here's my personal tale of woe:

gashouse's batting line for the week: .340/.410/.542

Weekly awards are cancelled as the Decepticons will call a team meeting to sort out team issues. On the agenda:
1. severe beating of Alex Rios
2. figuring out a way to help the Astros give Roger Clemens some run support
3. Giluloing a Cincinnati Reds outfielder to free up playing time for Wily Mo Pena
4. funeral plans for the nearly-dead Tino Martinez

The Cannibals had a great week hitting, .369/.390/.469, but my pitching officially sucks. Against my better judgement, I used one of my 5 keeper spots on Jaret Wright, same as I did with Estaban Loiza last year, and twice burned...

On the plus side, I've gotten stud performances out of FA pickup Victor Diaz and awesome rockies SS Clint Barmes. They get the co-Bonds this week:
Barmes: .500/.545/.600, 10 R 4 RBI
Victor D.: .409/.552/.909 8/8
Yahoo! autopick Chone Figgins had a nice week, getting his bat going and stealing 5 bases.

Adrian Beltre has sucked so far, .259/.300/.296. Others hit worse, but he takes the Neifi.

Brandon Webb takes the Pedro without much of a challenge- 13 IP, 2.57 ERA, 1 win, 1.00 WHIP. CC Sabathia has pitched awesome since coming off the DL, Kazmir's getting going...

But Jaret Wright fortunately for me, unfortunately for the Jays, is on the DL after going 10 innings with a 10.13 ERA this week. He managed to pick up a win somehow to go with a 2.44 WHIP.

Eastern Shore Birds and I are .5 games apart in the standings, so this could be a key week early on...

The Anarchist Archivists were *greatly* relieved to only lost 7-5 to Jonny's K-Town Mashers. Midway through the week, chances looked good for a 11-1 or even 12-0 rout, but the Archies pulled through with some terrific performances to take four pitching categories.

BONDS : AA only won one category, stolen bases, and we'll go (again) with The Great Vinny Castilla, who swiped two on Sunday to lead us to the win. Vinny also hit a decent .318 during the week.

NEIFI : Eli Marrero hit a lovely .059/.056/.059 and is now hitting a mighty .122 for the season.

PEDRO : Much as it pains me to say it, Carl Pavano did as much as anyone to lock down the wins, ERA, and WHIP categories for me with a great 8-inning performance in that 11-2 pasting of the Jays.

LIMA : Senator Al Leiter got his butt shot off by the Mets, giving up eight runs in three innings.
Jay - Monday, April 25 2005 @ 12:58 PM EDT (#113504) #
As expected, the Eh's were in tough this week and I'm happy to come away with 5 wins. TJF and I went back and forth all week swapping 9-3 leads so it was quite the roller coaster. At some point this year, I know my team is going to start hitting...hopefully it won't be too late.

Bonds: Very close vote here with Jeter just edging out Bill Mueller due to the 7 RBI to go along with peripherals 423/514/615.
Neifi: Hello Craig Monroe... 067/176/067
Pedro: I think Pedro is going to start getting upset with me as I hand the Pedro award to Oswalt for the second week in a row due to pitching 2 more innings than Pedro with similar #'s... 1.00 ERA /0.44 WHIP /infinity K/BB. All Rodrigo Lopez did was pitch a 8 inning shutout and doesn't even get a sniff at the Pedro.
Lima: Chris Capuano presently has a very tenious hold on a roster spot after two starts this week and a 6.17/1.89/1.17 line.
Jonny German - Monday, April 25 2005 @ 12:59 PM EDT (#113505) #
I didn't expect to bury Craig as badly as it looked heading into the weekend, but all the way down to 7-5?! Ugh... I celebrated Escobar hitting his pitch limit and getting pulled with the score tied in the Sunday night game, only to have Scot Shields pick up the win in relief.

My K/BB for the week was 3.06 while my ERA was 5.50... is that some kind of weird record?

MVH: Johnny Damon edges out Ryan Klesko, going 5-8-1 .419-.441-.484.

LVH: Joe Randa suddenly remembers that he's not very good and feels the need to get his rate stats back in line in a hurry - the only number he posted that wasn't a zero was his .059 OBP.

MVP: Bronson Arroyo was the only K-Town starter to manage a half decent ERA and WHIP to go along with his good K/BB. Unfortunately, I trusted the Blue Jay bats on Tuesday and benched Bronson, so his K-Town line had 1 win instead of 2.

LVP: It should go to me, but I ain't a pitcher so I'll give it to the man who made me look stupid, Aaron Heilman with his 4 rotten innings against the Florida team he dominated in his previous start.

"Giluloing a Cincinnati Reds outfielder to free up playing time for Wily Mo Pena"

Careful what you wish for. I hear Pena is the one who's hurt.
Cristian - Monday, April 25 2005 @ 01:22 PM EDT (#113509) #
I sure hope not as the Wily one was my only player to exceed my opponent's team batting line.
Ben - Monday, April 25 2005 @ 03:41 PM EDT (#113522) #
Well it seems to be feast or famine for the mighty midgets this year, my only consolation being that the Burlington Mazsters seemed to set record highs in every offensive category save stolen bases. That, coupled with the early week blow up of David Bush and the wonderfulness that is Brett Tomko submarined my chances at any ratio pitching categories.

MVH - ARod finally comes through, if only for one monster day and a mediocre rest of the week, but things look bright as Pujols seems to be turning it around as well.

LVH - Byrnes? Nady? Dye? I'm going with Furcal as he was my first non-keeper pick and cant seem to put together a consistent week.

MVP - either Brazoban or Willis, with Prior coming in a clsoe second.

LVP - Ugh, Tomko and Bush share this one, horrendous pitching

Things look brighter this week, Prior and Pettitte both get two starts and Pujols gets Brewer pitching for three games. Also my roto stats seem to be decent at a glance, I'm just real unlucky

Three Bucks on a Hun got beaten again, in no small thanks to that freak snowstorm leaving 3 of my starters (and a start by Joe Mays) on the bench.

But I did take pleasure in watching my week 2 opponent (Hee Seop Choi) get _pummelled_ 12-0. I guess I'll call it my Schadenfreude week :)

Knowing my luck, this will be the week that Andy Sisco turns into a pumpkin (though he currently looks like he's far more qualified to close than McDougal or Burgos!)
Four Seamer - Monday, April 25 2005 @ 06:21 PM EDT (#113568) #
The Gremlins' hitters had another ugly week, but perhaps that was for the best since they were up against the Baseball North juggernaut. Let's hope they were storing up production for this week's action.

On the other hand, the Gremlin pitching staff came through with lots of quantity, if not much quantity, and dealt Baseball North as many losses as it had suffered all year. I had to look hard for that silver lining, but there it is.

Bonds: Not a single standout, but we'll give it to Scott Rolen on the basis of his 4/5/0//240/367/560 line.

Perez: Lots of contenders, but Kookie Byrnes was in a league of his own this week: 0/0/0/000/154/000. I can attest that contra Tom Hanks, sometimes there is crying in baseball.

Pedro: Jake Peavy was sensational: 14.0/1/1.29/0.86/8.5

Lima: Jeff Weaver was not: 4.0/0/18.00/3.5/0.0
Michael - Tuesday, April 26 2005 @ 03:19 AM EDT (#113617) #
Well this week hitting was pretty good but pitching not as strong.

This is the second week in a row I've ended up tied in RBI (the first week it was tied in R). That's the crazy part of the week-by-week H2H scoring. You get the same credit for 0 RBI one week as you do for 31 but that 32 and 33 RBI are priceless (or whatever). Ironically the only time I've got the full point was against the opponent who put up the highest number against me (and received nothing). Sort of like a game of war where you hope your Aces and Kings capture those Queens and Jacks and not the 2s and 3s.

But in late braking news the Bashers are firing their pitching coach. In 3 weeks we've seen our team ERA and WHIP go:

2.39 0.95
3.70 1.31
6.26 1.64

And to send a message to my players that we will not tolerate losing streaks I felt we had to make this move.
Dylan B - Tuesday, April 26 2005 @ 04:10 AM EDT (#113618) #
The @$$kickers managed to pull out a number of pitching wins even though my pitchers had a rough week, and the hitters continue to preform badly, getting just 1 win and 1 tie. The rate stats were not even close.

Barry- Brad Wilkerson- 8 runs and 2 steals helping me get my only batting points for the week

Neifi- Austin Kearns, please let someone get injured so that he can get some consistent playing time to get out of his funk

Pedro- Rich Harden who pitched a shutout 7 innings

Lima- (Nasty) Nate Robertson, 6 runs in 3.1 innings, well atleast he did strike guys out this week,

team junior felix barely beat former league leader jay's ehs 6-5-1 but still slipped a spot in the standings. it was a strange week with a lot of lead changes that ended with a lot of categories being very close.

awards:

pedro: mark mulder 18.0/2/0/0.00/0.56/2.3. honourable mention to sir sidney.
