The feisty Josh Towers faces off against Daniel Cabrera tonight at the Rogers Centre. Game time is 7:07. Hey, does anyone know why they went with :07 this year instead of :05?

The Raptors' season is over, so there will be no more radio conflicts -- that means the broadcast this evening will be back on the Fan 590. TV coverage is by TSN. After last night's stellar showing by the Rogers Sportsnet crew, I'm looking forward to the opportunity to compare it to what we're getting from TSN.

Maybe the Canadian and American anthems take longer and they decided to add two minutes to the pregame time?

Adams is back at short today. Will Schoeneweis be used as a pure LOOGY this weekend? I'm not sure I want to see him facing Sammy Sosa or Javy Lopez, and anyone can get Jay Gibbons out, so Palmeiro might be his only assignment.

I've seen that "line-up" commercial with the O-Dog on it about 25 times now and I still can't understand what the hell he's saying. It's pure comedy.

I have a question...If Jamie Campbell is going to have 4 different partners this season where the are the other 3? Are they going to be giving them each one a night come summertime?
Also is Jim Hughson still going to broadcast the games from out west later this season?

Here's hoping the Jays can pick up some wins against Baltimore and Tampa and have a sucessful homestand. The Yankees and Red Sox are playing better baseball and if we have any ambitions about staying in this thing for a while, we've got to get back to the basics....good starting pitching and timely hits.

Rod Black calling the game tonight......(shudder)

Something about sliding off a greasy linebacker or something :)

No idea. But what always used to happen was that the Jays would come runing out of their dugout at 705, toss the ball around the infield while the pitcher takes his warmup tosses. And by the time thew first pitch was actually thrown, it was usually... well, usually is was 708. But sometimes it was 707...

Blue Jays commercial time needs less The Line Up and more Man with the Golden Glove.

You know what TSN should do? Replace Rod Black with Rob Faulds.

Hey, it's an improvement!

So sweet to see Towers strike out Sosa
CeeBee - Friday, April 22 2005 @ 08:15 PM EDT (#113297) #
Looks like it will be a last man standing game...... 4-4 after 3 sure isn't a pitchers duel ;)
Jim - Friday, April 22 2005 @ 08:15 PM EDT (#113298) #
It's just so demoralizing to give back that 3 run lead that quickly.

I like Josh Towers, but the sooner they can find an upgrade for his slot in the rotation the better. Even if it's only a short term replacement like Glynn.

Jim - Friday, April 22 2005 @ 08:18 PM EDT (#113299) #
Scratch Glynn. I'm just about ready for Gaudin :).
CeeBee - Friday, April 22 2005 @ 08:48 PM EDT (#113300) #
Do I like Hinske or what :) Nothing like a dirty uniform and a busted belt buckle :)
Jim - Friday, April 22 2005 @ 08:48 PM EDT (#113301) #
1 out in the 6th, Hinske has now stolen third. Why doesn't Gibbons have the pen working? If they go up 5-4, I don't want to send Towers out for another inning.
Nolan - Friday, April 22 2005 @ 08:49 PM EDT (#113302) #
Way to go Hinske! It has been a while since I've seen a jay steal second and then third on successive pitches. Also, nice to see Hudson take a walk, hopefully Adams can come through here with a base hit.
Jim - Friday, April 22 2005 @ 08:51 PM EDT (#113303) #
Gotta love Hudson, the one time you don't want him to draw a walk he does. Adams stayed out of the DP, but it was a dangerous situation.

Why pay SS if you aren't going to use him for Gibbons(L)/Matos(R)/Bigbie(L) in the 7th?
heronfish - Friday, April 22 2005 @ 09:03 PM EDT (#113304) #
Man did Kline look pleased when he got taken out after he walked Zaun, and y'all wanted to sign him.
Jim - Friday, April 22 2005 @ 09:08 PM EDT (#113306) #
Why Frasor against L/R/L and not SS? They don't have another true lefty until Palmerio.
Brian W - Friday, April 22 2005 @ 09:13 PM EDT (#113307) #
Why Frasor? Because if you can't trust any of your right-handed pitchers to get Bigbie and Gibbons you are in deep, deep trouble. I would rather save Schoeneweis for Palmeiro and/or another game.
Named For Hank - Friday, April 22 2005 @ 09:15 PM EDT (#113308) #
TSN's broadcast looks about ten billion times better than what it looked like last season. Real purty. Good show, gents.

I think maybe I need to make a gigantic VOTE ZAUN banner when All Star voting starts up.
Pistol - Friday, April 22 2005 @ 09:20 PM EDT (#113309) #
Why pay SS if you aren't going to use him for Gibbons(L)/Matos(R)/Bigbie(L) in the 7th?

That's not exactly Murderer's Row. Any decent reliever should be able to get through that.

King Ryan - Friday, April 22 2005 @ 09:25 PM EDT (#113310) #
What's the fear with Palmeiro? Forget about hitting your weight, the guy is barely slugging his weight.
Dunny - Friday, April 22 2005 @ 09:45 PM EDT (#113311) #
Schowenweiss is terrible

Speir isn't far behind
BCMike - Friday, April 22 2005 @ 09:45 PM EDT (#113312) #
Was I the only one that cringed when Zaun signaled an inside fastball to Sosa on a 1-2 count, right after Sosa whiffed on an outside breaking ball? No reason to go inside in that situation(unless you are going off the plate in), especially when you consider how far off the plate Sosa was.
Hoff - Friday, April 22 2005 @ 09:46 PM EDT (#113313) #
As soon as they brought Shoeneweis in, I knew it was bad news.
He keeps putting him in day after day, and I really dón't think he can take that much work

A bad outing from the start
Are they putting Miggy in now?
King Ryan - Friday, April 22 2005 @ 09:49 PM EDT (#113314) #
It wasn't completely his fault. The Orioles had two or three hits on bullshit-broken-bat-bloop-basehits. That's just unlucky.
fozzy - Friday, April 22 2005 @ 10:04 PM EDT (#113315) #
Oh come on now, how does Gibbons hit that for a homerun? It was a foot off the plate inside and close to scraping the ground. I think this is just one of those games...
GregH - Friday, April 22 2005 @ 10:12 PM EDT (#113317) #
"Something about sliding off a greasy linebacker or something :)"

What O-Dog actually says is "For the O-Dog that's as easy as sliding off a greased log backwards"

It's a good ad. And this is a bad game.
Keith Talent - Friday, April 22 2005 @ 10:28 PM EDT (#113318) #
Ryan Glynn over Josh Towers? Someone just suggested that and I really don't think that's any upgrade. Ryan Glynn is one of those "AAA guys" that JP mentioned on the radio last night that the Blue Jays were running out last year to get their butts whipped. Ryan Glynn is from the scrapheaps of scrapheaps; a reject from the Texas Rangers pitching staff.
Hoff - Friday, April 22 2005 @ 10:35 PM EDT (#113319) #
What was up with those bats
what was it, three broke in a row?
Keith Talent - Friday, April 22 2005 @ 10:39 PM EDT (#113320) #
My favourite ad, and I've only seen it once, is the Ted Lilly one: "The Call". It's just so bizarre. "The Man with the Gold Glove" is super too.
Jim - Friday, April 22 2005 @ 10:42 PM EDT (#113321) #
"That's not exactly Murderer's Row. Any decent reliever should be able to get through that."

True, but if SS had pitched the 7th and gotten through, then Frasor can pitch the 8th and maybe the disaster never takes place.
