I don't have cable right now, but if this game were on, I'd be headed to a bar right now. Instead I'm going to wait 20 minutes before I leave. :)

I'm a fan of Alomar's and I hate seeing how fast he's declined. That being said, that was an absolutely hilarious line, Jim.

I wonder if they're considering using Walker as fill-in starter while Lilly's getting his arm ready. Anybody hear anything?

Hinske and Hillenbrand get hits, two on one out.

Mr. Defensive Wizard lets another ball get past him but Hinske hesitates and doesn't advance.

Leadoff double for Travis Lee.
Lugo grounds out to second, Lee to third.

Gonzalez grounds out to short, run scores.

Small ball and productive outs work!

Too bad they're still behind by three runs, have nobody on base, and have two outs now.

Cash flies out to whatever field Johnson is playing in.

Infield single for Frank Cat, he's 3-4.

Two outs go by without me noticing then someone grounds out to end the inning.

Noo...Leading off innings with doubles works.

That was sarcasm on my part. I was pointing out that small ball helped get the run in but eliminated any reasonable chance of scoring more than one run in the inning.

Ummm....some things have happened, not sure what, but the Jays scored another run, off Rob Bell this time, but Trever Miller came in and got the third out. Bottom of the 7th now and Josh Phelps just led off with a double.

Phelps advances to third somehow and scores on a sacrifice fly. 5-3 Jays.

LaForest grounds out to end the inning.

Aaron Hill singles but is erased by a 3-6 double play, great defensive play by Phelps.

Hot shot line drive snagged by Phelps for the third out.

Great defensive plays by Phelps. Sigh. I'm glad to hear Aaron Hill is seeing some action though.

Dee Brown doubles to lead off the inning, advances to third on an out, then is singled in by the greatness that is Steve Cox. 5-4 Jays.

Has frasor pitched at all this spring?

Hinske draws a leadoff walk but is erased by a double play then Myers strikes out.

Frasor's pitched 4 innings, with no runs allowed, 4 K's, one walk, and 3 hits. Looking at the Jays' website, he's been as active as any other relief pitcher.

Matt Whiteside pitching the ninth.

Base hit, baserunner thrown out trying to steal second, strikeout, the immortal Shane Halter gets a hit. Popout to shallow centerfield by LaForest, game over.

Jays win 5-4.

The Jays barely got away from suffering death by a thousand cuts. Giving up runs in many different innings can't be a good thing.

Sportsnet saying Alomar retires tomorrow.....interesting

So that's where Singleton went. I had no idea.

And TB is denying the Alomar to retire rumours, but that's to be expected.

I read an article on SportsNews.com on the Nationals intense interest in the Red's Willy Mo Pena:

"The Reds want pitching, and a baseball source said they have inquired about Zach Day and even Livan Hernandez. No deal seems even close right now, but the Nationals are going to monitor Peņa closely over the next week."

If that is all it takes, I would gladly deal Chacin and, say Rosario for him; or even Ted Lilly...Pena could become a franchise player and, IMHO, would be worth the risk of a weaker rotation.
