Blue Jay President and CEO Paul Godfrey will be the keynote speaker at the 2005 SABR Convention in Toronto August 4-7. Non-members of SABR are welcome to attend.
OK, I know with the launch of the new da Box, you wanted to keep discussions on topic - well, Matthew gave me an opening sorta.
Apparently, Marty "sources say" York has not had his contract re-newed by Sportsnet. I can't give a link, since it came out in an industry newsletter but it is a reliable source.
I wonder who's gonna cover the Jays for Sportsnet now? Scott Carson? Jamie Campbell?

I'm sure Godfrey will give a much better keynote than Jim Evans did in Denver (2003). The umpire ought to have had a lot of interesting baseball stories to tell, but instead he told a lot of non-baseball related jokes (that weren't even original). Fortunately, the rest of the Denver convention was great.
I'm not sure what Mike means by "non-members of SABR are welcome to attend". I think to attend the convention you have to sign up as a member for that year. And even if you pay to attend the convention, I believe (in 2003 at least) it was extra cost to attend the banquet. (It was a lunch on the Saturday.)

Paul Godfrey is a fine choice. As an excellent speaker, an observer/participant in the Blue Jays family since before day one, and an active Torontoian, Mr. Godfrey surely will provide an interesting and an informative keynote address!
He will represent the finest city in North America in a "world class" fashion.

Stephen, the SABR website piece I linked to indicates that "non-members are encouraged to attend". Maybe it will be different this year from previous SABR conventions.
