It's December 26 -- Boxing Day -- and you (always) know what that means; we're just hours away from the announcement of the annual Andujar "YouNeverKnow" award. In the meantime, take a moment to look back at some of the 1,383 (!) threads posted here during 2004 and answer today's ....

Question of the Day: What are your favourite moments of Batter's Box '04? These may or may not be the same as your favourite moments of Blue Jays '04 or even Baseball '04. When you think Batter's Box this year, what comes to mind? The answer may be funny, a great line or a good story, or poignant, or otherwise memorable. Bauxites, over to you ...

To start it off, I personally think the runaway winner in "most memorable" Box moment of 2004 is the outpouring of messages to Tom Cheek from regulars and surfers alike. These were printed and bound and presented to Cheek, in case you did not know that.

The second most memorable Box moment of 2004 was JP's surprise appearance at the Box-sponsored "Chasing Steinbrenner" event at Alice Fazooli's. Too bad that I missed it by 15 minutes!

J.P.'s arrival was great -- "Come on, where are the tough questions? Don't hide behind your computers."

7 words sum up the most fun I had at the Pena this year (COMN) ... "At The Corey Of An Ad Campaign".

Jobu's campaign for Too Many Molinas!.

As a recurring feature, I have to doff my cap to all the dedicated chaps who brought us Blue Jay Minor League Baseball on Batters Box Radio. I loved it all year long.

Aside from the whole discovery of the cheer club to co-leadership of the cheer club, without a doubt the most memorable thing I recall from Da Box this year was lazily checking one of the Cheer Club round up threads after another fun game and seeing a screen cap of myself and the O-Drum on Conan O'brien. It took me so off guard.... Then I finally got a copy of the tape and saw I had a zoom in and everything....in the words of Mr. Carson

"That is some weird wacky stuff"

Thanks for a memorable (non-baseball) year Bauxites! Here's to next year!

I've been on the 'Box for about a year, and it's been a very enjoyable one at that. I look forward to more debate, insights and banter (hey, remember that show?) in 2005.

Now, if we could just figure out a way to win some ball games...

Most memorable for me was accidentally discovering that someone on these boards went to the same high school as me and actually played a game of softball on my team last summer. Craziest coincidence I've ever personally encountered.

The Alice Fazooli's event was terrific. It was enjoyable meeting JP. Even more enjoyable was meeting and chatting with Mike Wilner and Rob Bradford, both of whom I have a great amount of respect for. Wilner was terrific: He acted like he was one of us and didn't have that "everyone knows my name!" atttitude that on-air personalities on radio can often get. I was really pleasantly surprised how down-to-earth both Wilner and Bradford were.

As far as on the Box stuff, I thought the week-or-two before and during the draft was great. Nothing in particular from that period stands out; it was just a lot of fun discussing the various prospects and trying to predict who the Jays will take. Brent Smith's advocacy of Chip Cannon was pretty funny, particularly since he ended up becoming a Jay.

Not too many lefties remaining for the Yankees to choose from should they not be able to get RJ.

Mets sign SS Woodward to minor league deal
FLUSHING, New York (Ticker) - The New York Mets on Tuesday signed shortstop Chris Woodward to a minor league contract.

Woodward, 28, spent last season with the Toronto Blue Jays, batting .235 with one homer and 24 RBI in 69 games.

Bye, Woody.

Most memorable for me was accidentally discovering that someone on these boards went to the same high school as me and actually played a game of softball on my team last summer.

Not only that, we formed quite the Guzman-Rivas combo!

It's nice to see Woodward go somewhere -- not because I don't like him, but he deserves a chance to play somewhere. Even though it's the Mets, he might get a few days in here and there. Or have they done something Met-like with Reyes and Matsui?

And as for the QOTD, that wild BBRadio on a Thursday night in May -- Thirsty Thursday, I believe -- is up there. Seeing Delgado wearing a crown and RETURN OF THE KING on every sports broadcast for days was great. But nothing tops the Fisher Cats' championship, and to mention that I was the one with the championship BBRadio call would be very eogtistical of me. So I won't. ;) And there was another moment, but I don't need to bog down this thread anymore.

And I know it's not a personal moment, but I've been away with family in a non-computer house, I didn't know until now (an hour ago, actually), so I'd like to give Aaron and Vanessa my belated congratulations on little "Named For Williams."

seeing a screen cap of myself and the O-Drum on Conan O'brien.
When did this happen? In what context?

My favourite moment would have to have been the big war with the grumpy security guard over the allowance of the o-drum - that marginally beating out the yankees complaining about the drum.

I really loved Jeff Geauvreau's attempts to get enough money to re-name the Skydome after Battersbox.

My favourite Box memory of 2004 is finally getting out to a Cheer Club event—the incredible Dave Bush game vs. the Yankees—and spending hours after the game with Leigh, his friend whose name I misremember, and bird droppings, talking baseball at a pub.

It was the most fun I've had at a baseball game in years; it was also the first game in a long, long time the Jays have won with me in attendance.
