The Fisher Cats took a 2-0 series lead with a 5-4 victory over the Altoona Curve last night.

Maikel Jova's 2nd game winning homer of the playoffs broke a 4-4 7th inning tie. Earlier, Tyrell Godwin's 3 run homer had given the Cats a 4-1 lead, but Altoona scored 2 runs in the fifth and one in the sixth, with errors by Dominic Rich and Cats' starter Chris Baker figuring prominently. Baker went 6 innings and allowed 4 runs, 2 earned on 7 hits and no walks with 7 strikeouts. Brandon League pitched 2 scoreless innings allowing 1 hit and no walks with 2 Ks. Jordan DeJong continued his fine closing work of the playoffs in the ninth. Jova had 3 hits, and Godwin had 2 hits and a walk.
The Cats and Curve resume their series on Friday night at Gill Stadium in New Hampshire.
