Raging comebacks, blown leads, late-inning homers and a couple of dominating starts were the stories on a 4-3 night for the farm affiliates.
Syracuse 3-3 Pawtucket 4-2
In the regularly scheduled game, the Chiefs could not hold a 3-1 lead, as the Pawsox scored 2 in the seventh off Mike Nakamura and the winner in the bottom of the ninth off Bob File. Jorge Sequea doubled and drew two walks to lead the Syracuse offence. Howie Clark also reached base 3 times. Russ Adams went 2-5 and Guillermo Quiroz went 0-3 with a walk. Cam Reimers started and went 3 scoreless innings allowing 1 hit and striking out 2. Jason Kershner followed with 2.1 innings, allowing 1 unearned run on 4 hits and 2 punchouts, before the lead evaporated.
The Chiefs won the completion of a suspended game 3-2. Howie Clark and Anthony Sanders each had 2 hits and drove in a run. Josue Matos started and went 5.2 innings, allowing 2 earned runs on 2 hits and 4 walks. He struck out 6. Aquilino Lopez pitched a perfect 1 and 1/3 innings for his 5th save.

The never-say-die Fisher Cats clawed back with 5 runs in the bottom of the ninth for the victory. 2 run homers by John-Ford Griffin and Justin Singleton tied the game up, and the winning run scored on a Met error. Francisco Rosario started and dominated for 6 innings, giving up 3 earned runs on 6 hits, while walking nobody and striking out 10. Yowza. Ryan Houston had a rough time for 2.1 innings and Travis Thompson got the last two outs in the top of the ninth and was the beneficiary of the Fisher Cat uprising in the bottom of the frame. Aaron Hill went 0-3 with a walk. Paul Chiaffreddo had 2 hits and scored the winning run.

The Alley-Cats rallied for 2 runs in the 7th inning and 3 in the 8th inning for the victory. Joey Reiman wielded the big stick with a double, a single and a walk. He drove in and scored 2 runs. Robinson Diaz again led off and had 2 hits. Christian Snavely had a key pinch-hit 2 run single. Danny Core started and went 7 outstanding innings, allowing 1 earned run on 3 hits and 1 walk with 9 strikeouts. Derek Nunley and Matt Dalton finished off.

Big City Joey Metropolous hit a grand slam homer with 2 outs in the bottom of the 7th inning (the last inning of the doubleheader) to bring the Doubledays back from the brink in the opener, but there were no such heroics in the nightcap. Nick Thomas doubled and drove in two runs, and played right field for the first time this season. Pitchers Brian Grant, Adrian Martin, Daryl Harang and Aaron Tressler all struggled.
