Aaron returns from Sin City, older and wiser, with a brilliant blog entry. He made a few rookie mistakes, but he's still a prospect.
I've been to Vegas the last 3 years and that's a pretty good assessment of the city and my experiences. The last 2 years I've gone during the baseball playoffs which gives you the nice CFB, NFL, MLB playoff combinations to watch over the weekend.
Best buffet in Vegas? Aladdin.

Having never been to Vegas (but sort of amused at the bass-ackwards American laws which made Aaron wait until he was 21 to visit), I am still reminded of my trip to Niagra Falls, Ontario. The downtown is an amusement park; wax museums, rides, carnies, the whole wabooza. I guess it's a decent place outside of the downtown core, but its downtown is surreal.
Oh, and Aaron also committed the cardinal sin of Amount: "I spent much of last week in that very place, sitting at those tables in the above picture, watching an endless amount of games on those very screens.

Yeah, we stayed in the downtown area (Niagra Falls, ON) and it was tacky. Everything Joe mentioned and more. Plus, we ate st a TGI Friday's and a garden salad cost $17.50. And no, I'm not kidding.
Great article. I must say I read with added interest as my bachelor party is in Vegas next month. I hope I return with money to watch the Jays on MLBVideo...
C'mon, why are we posting this crap on the box! Use msn or whatever for your petty discussions, please.
Aaron, here is the way to do Vegas (my March trip)
Fly to Vegas Monday morning. Hop down to Phoenix for 4 days of spring training. Back to Vegas for Fri/Sat/Sun of the first weekend of the NCAA tourney. Good times.

Hey B. Cam ... No trolling, please. It's just not appreciated here. (Hopefully I'm not misinterpreting the meaning of 'trolling' here, making me look like a fool ;-) )
Am I the only who is very curious about that supposed Blue Jays meeting?
Yeah, that meeting certainly was an interesting tidbit. The doubling of payroll was pretty funny.
I love Aaron's blogs - that dude is just entertaining, even when baseball isn't directly involved. B. Cam, go away if you don't like it.

Niagara Falls is, like, terrifying. I've never seen an entire city so consumed by cheesiness.
As for Vegas, I thought Aaron's point about time zones was interesting. I've always felt weird going West because of that. "Letterman's on WHEN?" Maybe Atlantic City is the place to go for all-night sports betting.
Donkit: No, you had the definition exactly right.

First time there I was all 'NFL games start at 10?'
The cool thing about the late games ending at 10 pm-ish is that you can go out gambling on other things later in the night.

The two weirdest things about Vegas I observed was;
1.)No clocks anywhere(or windows for that matter),you never know what time it is.
2.)Security cops all over the place... I guess with all that money floating around people needed a sense of security.
Thanks for the link Coach, I could read Gleeman all day long.

The last time I went to Vegas was around the same time as Aaron did (but 5 years ago). I remember having breakfast while watching an NFL playoff game and thinking "I could get used to this."
I also got to make a ridiculous bet at the MGM: All 3 Toronto sports teams (Jays, Leafs, Raptors) to win their league championship in 1999: 750-1. I put $2 down on it, figuring that if it did hit, it would pay for my trip down to cash in the ticket.
Sadly, I've since lost that betting stub in the last two moves.
