Hey, it's something. Also, the Giants traded pitcher Joe Nathan to the Twins for A.J. Pierzynski, possibly opening the Joe Mauer era in Minnesota. The Twins also picked up Boof Bonser, who had been passed by Jesse Foppert, Jerome Williams, and Kurt Ainsworth on the Giants depth chart, and Francisco Liriano, a pitcher who I know nothing about. Maybe I missed some stuff, but that about sums up the GM meetings. Is it me or did these kinds of meetings used to be fun? Now it's Questec, steroid/drug use, and far too much Bud Selig and Don Fehr, whereby "far too much" means "any."
Liriano is a 20 year old lefty signed in 2000 from the Dominican Republic. Coming into the year Baseball America rated him the 4th best prospect on the Giants behind Foppert, Ainsworth, and Williams. His fastball is around 93 and can get up to 97 and his slider and changeup are reportedly big league quality. There have been some issues with his shoulder and consequently he didn't pitch much at all this year but he has the stuff to dominate.

Huh? The second best catcher in the AL has been traded for prospects. This has caused ripples in the Lopez, Rodriguez FA choices etc. etc.
I think this is just the start of some exciting moves..

The Star reports there is a PTBNL in the deal which sends Boof Bonser to the Twins. Well, it definitely will need some thought.
