Well, they're there for the time being, anyway -- maybe even through 2004, according to recent reports. Canadian baseball fans should enjoy these Toronto-Montreal matchups while we can: we're seeing the tail end of history unfolding. Mark Hendrickson, whose performances are being watched closely by a front office with a gradually increasing number of starting options in the minors, pitches for the Jays, while Sun-Woo Kim gets the call for les Expos. If you hear a loud roar of engines, some gunfire and lots of police sirens during the game, that'll be Jose Theodore 's box.
Warning: Joe West, worst umpire ever, is behind the plate tonight. Expect an inconsistent strike zone and a snarky, arrogant demeanour. Joe West -- life's not peaceful there.
Reed Johnson flared a single into right field, then Cat replaced him at first on a fielder's choice. Vernon then took a Kim fastball off his forearm -- seems to be OK, but we'll see -- and Carlos walked. Tom Wilson then popped out to shallow center with the sacks loaded -- why isn't Myers starting against a righty? -- and the O-Dog grounded out. Leaving the bases full in the first inning is not a good habit to get into.
No score after 2 1/2, and I'm out of here for the foreseeable. The play-by-play booth is open!
LOL at Jose Theodore's box!
Vernon 2-run home run, now on pace for 40 I believe.

Why does a guy get the night off after going 4-for-4 with a homer?
When the opposition starts 3 righties in a series, Tosca likes to go with Wilson in the middle contest.

I missed this. What did they show? If it was empty, *that* would have been funny.

Tam was pitching well, so of course you must take him out and hope to find a pitcher who doesn't have it on this night. The Jays got lucky - they found two.
Looks like whatever evil spirit inhabited Kelvim has found a new home in Cliff......I'll give Lopez the benefit of the doubt as I guess he was due for a bad turn.....but Politte...oh my
Well the Jays were in 2nd place for 4 plus hours, what a melt down
Oh no! time to panic! The Jays have lost one game and Carlos Delgado hasn't had an RBI in five! They're in THIRD!!
Oh wait - I forgot Griffin is a crackpot. Never mind.

Their only hope is to turn him into a starter.
I haven't watched this series too much, just because I feel bad rooting against the Jays. The Expos are my team and besides.. the Jays are just playing for a playoff spot. The Expos are playing for the existance of their franchise.

Wow, I missed a lot. I've been seeing Toronto through the eyes of our visitors -- Dragon Boat races, Centreville, Aladdin -- which means "away" from baseball. Haven't seen a highlight on TV or heard an inning on the radio. The standings still look fine to me; that must have been a great game Friday night.
Yesterday's box score tells me nothing I didn't know: Aquilino's only human, and Politte's a concern. (Owning Cliff and Jeff Walker on your fantasy team, with only one bench spot, is a drag.) I also knew Mark Hendrickson was a pretty good pitcher, and I'm very happy for the big guy, who has really stepped up. I can't wait to see his homer on TV.
I'm wondering about lots of things. How's Stewart? How's Hinske? Why hasn't Acevedo pitched? Why did I waive Dontrelle Willis after one bad start? What's wrong with the Twins?
Why does a guy get the night off after going 4-for-4 with a homer?
Good question. According to Griffin, Tosca explained that Myers can't play every day, but if they face a string of righty starters, Greg is most likely to be in there against the hardest throwers. That's useful information for fantasy owners who have had trouble detecting the pattern, but getting so "concerned" over the team's second loss in eleven games is hysterical. On the half-empty, half-full continuum, Rich should get a smaller glass.
