Don't forget to join the Batter's Box crew, including Robert, Craig and (hopefully) Kent at the SkyDome tonight; we're offering free tickets - there are tickets still available and please e-mail Craig at tybalt4@yahoo.com to let him know you're coming.

We're meeting at Gate 9 near the Will Call window - that's where Craig will be standing in an Expos hat (should be the only one at the park, you can't miss him). We're meeting between 6:30 and 6:45 but Craig will be there a few extra minutes if necessary to pick up stragglers.

Just so there's no confusion, here's a picture:

You're not going to be wearing a suit though, right?

"Dogma" was interesting, Craig, but I still think "Clerks" was your best work.

Long time, no visit. I've been on vacation, visiting lovely Montreal, Ottawa, Kingston and Toronto. I'm now visiting my parents in London, Ont. which I refuse to call lovely. It's got some good bars, tho.

I'll be at the game with the Batters Box crew tonight with two beautiful women: my girlfriend Hannah and my sister Michelle. I'll be the 6'3" freak in the 1960's era Atlanta Braves hat:

I won't be wearing a suit either. I will be wearing a T-shirt with a secret code on it. If anyone knows the purpose of the code, they'll win my admiration (which is being devalued faster than the U.S. Dollar).

Cheers,

Mikey

Kingston isn't lovely. Kingston is a pit, with traffic.

Kingston isn't lovely. Kingston is a pit, with traffic.

I went to Queen's for a year (1999-2000), and I thought Kingston wasn't too bad. Mind you, I spent most of that time in the Grad Club there, so I admittedly didn't see a whole lot of it.

Hannah spent four years at Queen's, and seems to think that Kingston is about an 8 block area around the school. I had to clear up a few misconceptions for her. She had no idea the city continued north of Princess. :)

Craig: I mailed you, but in case that doesn't get through: I'd like a ticket, please, if you have any left. Thanks!

I'll be in the pearl gray formal cutaway with Ascot, top hat, and stickpin.

"Dogma" was interesting, Craig, but I still think "Clerks" was your best work.

I'm even fatter in person. But I'm more voluble than a thousand Silent Bobs.

If you're able to come to the game at the last minute, just show up at Gate 9 (there are still a few tickets left) and/or e-mail me at cburley@torys.com - my BlackBerry address - to ask me to save a ticket. I'll have access to that e-mail up to and during the game, so if you have to be late or something let me know!

Sacrilege. I went to Queen's for 5 years and I thought the city was gorgeous. And I even went north of Princess twice!

I'm very sorry to say I'll be missing this event -- Ottawa's just too far away -- but I'll be manning the booth back at BB HQ to provide game reports for any Boxer not in attendance.

Furthermore, Kingston's a lovely city from April through September. Unfortunately, I was there from September through April (three years running, no less), and so I can't give it a thumbs-up for ambience. In terms of bars and bands, though, it can't be beat by any city not in Newfoundland.

My wife went to Queens for 5 years and loved the city and the entire experience.

As an innocent lad from out West I've heard many sordid tales regarding ritualistic initiation preceedings particularly involving engineers.Given the propensity of lawyers on this blog I'll have to ask her about them.(Religiously studying at home no doubt?)

Well its 3:45p.m. here on the westcoast, think I'll pack up the old laptop and go home, grab a latte along the way and watch the game on TV while enjoying my lotus over the TV table. I'll be looking for the Batterbox placard among the crowd. Enjoy the game guys. Go Jays Go

There's a HUUUUUGE difference between the Queens campus and Kingston. The Queens campus is nirvana compared to Kingston north of Princess. Name another city where you can get propositioned by a hooker with a mullet.

And to make things topical, their baseball diamonds aren't kept as well as they could be. ;)

I've only been to Kingston once but I kind of liked it. It's convenient the way that all the bookstores - and I mean all the bookstores - are either on Princess or just around the corner from it.

If I'd been eating breakfast when I read that, I would have snorted milk out my nose.

That was one of the nice things about Kingston. You go down Princess, get a book, then have a couple cups of coffee at "The Sleepless Goat". A great coffee shop, even if it is really ideological. I don't believe in ideologies and I don't have one, unless being a giant man-child counts as an ideology.

The Moral of the Story From Last Night: If you want people to immediately recognize you, post a really stupid looking picture of yourself on a website. Everyone seemed to know who I was immediately.

I gotta thank Craig for setting up the "Bandwagon Night" at the Skydome last night. I had a blast! Plus Craig remembered our Ken Huckaby beer wager (I had completely forgotten) and was kind enough to remind me by getting me a cold one.

Three Cheers to Craig!

The Queens campus is nirvana

Yes, as a McGill grad, I agree wholeheartedly that Queen's University resembles nothing so much as a state of complete nothingness.

As someone who went to school/worked at Queen's for a year, I have to agree with this statement.

Besides, everybody knows that the University of Western Ontario is the greatest school in the universe.

You misunderstood. I mean that Queens is Nirvana compared to Western, which is The Bay City Rollers. ;)

S A T U R D A Y.. NIGHT!

I happen to like the Bay City Rollers.

Every year during Frosh Week at Western they have a big concert for the first year students. It's usually a fairly well known Canadian act, like the Tragically Hip or Sloan.

My year ('95) they had "Bjorn Again", an ABBA triubte band. I might be in the minority, but I think ABBA is even worse than the 'Rollers. Needless to say I wasn't thrilled about the situation, tho I did meet a ton of cool people at the concert.
