ESPN recently ran a fascinating conversation with Vernon Wells. In this interview, we learn, among other things, that Vernon doesn't like his name, doesn't swear, and never gets angry about his at-bats.

He seems pretty humble. He credits his RBIs to guys on base, and won't say if he's better than others or not.
Aaron Gleeman did a column on the Jays today, it's pretty good. Click on my name to read it.

I read the Wells interview, and was surprised to find the no-swearing part, especially after the game-report column I wrote at Blue Jay Way (I'd link to the specific column but the site seems to be down at the moment). I guess I was hearing him wrong; sorry, Vernon.

The Jays catching platoon is getting well deserved praise in some circles, but at some point Myers has to come down.
Greg Myers (career – 2683 ABs) - .250/.307/.384
Greg Myers (2003 – 97 ABs) ----- .330/.414/.536
Hopefully the Jays can move him for a prospect before he falls too far and isn't worth much of anything in a trade.

Aaron, if you're reading, great article and thanks for the plug!
Wells really does seem to be a solid, bright young guy. I especially enjoyed the retort about throwing "cell phones".
Great work by Aaron as well.Amazing the Jay's have the #1 offensive output at the catcher position. While this may not last the slack should be picked up by a healthy Hinske on his return.(ranked 10th. this year,#1 last year)
I've been away on vacation most of May and have missed many games. Can this be the same team I followed closely in April? What a turn around.

Aaron, the Jays would absolutly love to free J Santana, have you seen anyone of interest to the Twins? I can't find a match...( They are so well stocked, sigh!)
Not that I would expect it to happen (plus it's not an even trade), but the Twins could use Hudson at 2B and the Jays could free Johan.
