I promised I wouldn't pimp my A's "column" much, and so far I've stuck to it. To that end, Tuesday's update is not my best effort by any measure, noteworthy only in that I continue to pitch Batter's Box and Aaron's blog. The blogging community is fairly new, and I don't know what people expect when they launch their own blog. Whatever the case, it's worth promoting the ones that are good; BB is a good one, and so is Aaron's.
Gitz, in the interest of equal self-promotion, here is my latest ESPN update. The same day I warn Eric Hinske's fantasy owners about his wrist being a more serious problem than previously thought, kid goes yard -- off a lefty, no less. It's hard to accept not batting 1.000, but as one reader told me via e-mail, he picked up Politte, Phelps and Hudson cheap last year (in a very deep AL league) based on my recommendations, so he forgives me for Felipe Lopez. Greg Myers has won me a lot of new fans this year.
Not only is Aaron's blog worth reading, he's a tough opponent in Diamond Mind baseball. His Minnesota Gophers are 19-11 to top their division in the highly competitive Three Run Homer League. The BB boys are more than holding their own -- Craig Burley is off to a 22-8 start with his Halifax Whitecaps, who have scored about 20% more runs than the next-best offence, and Robert Dudek led his Pottsville Yuenglings to a 17-game win streak en route to a league-best 24-6 mark. The Toronto Walrus, under rookie DMB management, is 18-12 and clinging to a narrow division lead, which is a pleasant surprise -- I was hoping for a .500 season in what I thought was a rebuilding year. I may be trading some of the prospects I grabbed in our month-long online auction for help in this season's pennant race.

Coach, what is your hit count? I am continually astounded that so many people read my page, and that so many of those so many choose to e-mail me.
The Diamond Mind sounds like a hoot. How does one become involved in such a foray?
