@ParrishBaseball The @BlueJays have selected Troy Guthrie (@guthrie2024) in the 11th Round with the 337th pick in the 2024 @MLBDraft. Troy is @ParrishHSAthle1 First player ever selected in the MLB Draft. Congratulations to Troy and his family! #TOTHECORE

Taylor Blake Ward @TaylorBlakeWard Blue Jays 11-337: Troy Guthrie, RHP, Parrish Community HS (FL) -- starter kit projection prep, low 90s FB, sweepy SL, downer CV flashes abv, separation CH in bag, avg control w/ phys/pwr gains dictating rotation future w/ size/arsenal to tap upside (FGCU commit)

Round 12 - 367th overall. RHP Carson Messina, Summerville HS, SC. Bats Right, Throws Right. 6-foot-2, 225 pounds. Born April 15, 2006..

MLB.com Scouting Report - Messina's older brother Cole is one of the best college catchers in the 2024 Draft, making it unlikely they'll be reunited at South Carolina next year. While Cole was starring with the Gamecocks, Carson was establishing himself as Palmetto State's best prep pitching prospect. He ran his fastball up to 97 mph before missing the end of his senior season with a hamstring injury. Messina is all about power on the mound, where he regularly operates with a 92-95 mph heater with running action. His curveball can be a wipeout pitch at times, sitting in the low 80s with plenty of depth. While his fading low-80s changeup is a work in progress, he does show some feel for throwing it for strikes. More physical than athletic, Messina throws with considerable effort and his delivery puts stress on his shoulder. That leads to questions as to whether he'll have enough control -- he doesn't have a track record of throwing strikes -- or durability to succeed as a starter. He has late-inning upside if he winds up in the bullpen, though teams usually are reluctant to invest heavily in a high schooler who projects as a reliever. Scouting grades: Fastball: 55 | Curveball: 60 | Changeup: 45 | Control: 40 | Overall: 40 Video

MLB Pipeline @MLBPipeline Brothers selected on consecutive days of the #MLBDraft! The #BlueJays take right-hander Carson Messina in the 12th round after the #Rockies drafted his older brother Cole out of @GamecockBasebll in the 3rd round yesterday.

Teddy Cahill @tedcahill Prep RHP Carson Messina to the Blue Jays in the 12th round. South Carolina commit, top-150 on our draft board. Very intriguing pick.

Alan Cole @Alan__Cole South Carolina signee Carson Messina goes in the 12th round (367th overall) to the Toronto Blue Jays. 12th round pick would imply that he cut a deal with Toronto and will sign, since high school prospect who fall this far often remove their names if they haven't gone.

Taylor Blake Ward @TaylorBlakeWard Blue Jays 12-367: Carson Messina, RHP, Summerville HS (SC) -- physical power prep, low/mid 90s SK, tight breaker regularly shows plus, some feel for CH, delivery tweaks to test as starter w/ arsenal that would play as pwr reliever (South Carolina commit)

Rapsodo Baseball @rapsodo Carson Messina joins his high school teammate PJ Morlando by getting drafted with the @BlueJays at the 367th pick.

Kevin Bilodeau @KevinLive5 Summerville has their 3rd alum picked in the MLB Draft. Carson Messina taken in the 12th round with the 367th pick by the Toronto Blue Jays. The Green Wave pitcher, who saw his brother drafted yesterday, is committed to go to South Carolina

Taylor Blake Ward @TaylorBlakeWard Blue Jays 13-396: Brock Tibbitts, C, Indiana -- well rounded offense-first RHH catcher/corner, patient hitter w/ fringe-avg hit tool and phys based raw pwr, big frame may move him to 1B/LF/RF but liked by pitchers w/ enough def traits to stick at C.

Round 13 - 397th overall. C Brock Tibbitts, Indiana. Bats Right, Throws Right. 6-foot-4, 225 pounds. Born October 4, 2002.

MLB.com Scouting Report - Tibbitts endeared himself to scouts by missing just a month after surgery to repair a torn meniscus in his left knee in April, and also by selflessly spending more of the season at first base (where Indiana had a need) than behind the plate (which would have helped his Draft chances). Though he hasn't caught much for the Hoosiers, he's athletic for a 6-foot-4, 225-pounder, is making strides as a receiver and has solid arm strength. He puts the bat on the ball but needs to make better quality contact to tap into more power. He hit .313/.404/.472 this spring.

Tyler Kotila @tyler_kotila The Blue Jays grabbed #Hoosiers bat, Brock Tibbitts, with their 13th rd pick. Good backstop w/ a power oriented profile. Tons to like w/ feel to do damage at the plate. Took strides in the B10. #PGDraft x #MLBDraft // #TOTHECORE

Jared Perkins @JaredCP1. The Toronto Blue Jays select Brock Tibbitts in the 13th round. Interesting prospect out of @IndianaBase. Missed some time due to an injury, but before that was a reliable and consistent player in Indiana’s lineup. Physical presence in the box.

Jack Ankony @ankony_jack. The Toronto Blue Jays used their 13th-round pick on Indiana first baseman and catcher Brock Tibbitts, who made the 2024 NCAA Knoxville All-Regional team. https://si.com/college/indiana/baseball/toronto-blue-jays-select-indiana-hoosiers-brock-tibbitts-in-2024-mlb-draft. #iubase

Taylor Blake Ward @TaylorBlakeWard. Blue Jays 16-487: Colby Martin, RHP, Southeastern -- smaller chucking pwr reliever, mid/upper 90s FB that taps 100, SL w/ good raw shape, pure chucker w/ well blw-avg command and pwr relief only outlook

Round 17 - 517th overall. SS Gavin Smith, Valley Christian HS, AZ. Bats Right, Throws Right. 6-foot-2, 185.pounds. Born November 27 ,2005.

Twitter Reaction

Ryley Delaney @Ryley_L_D. I mean it's not impossible the Jays are able to sign Gavin Smith. In 2022, they signed a prep pitcher Gage Stanifer, who was selected in the 19th round. Can't say for certain it's a hedge pick... but I think the chances that it is are pretty high.

Round 18 - 547th overall. RHP Holden Wilkerson, Virginia Military Institute, VA. Bats Right, Throws Right. 6-foot-4, 205 pounds. Born June 7, 2003..

Mark Berman @BermanRoanoke Cave Spring grad Holden Wilkerson of VMI goes to Toronto in Round 18

Image from AL.com

Round 19 - 577th overall. 1B D'Marion Terrell, Thompson HS, AL. Bats Left, Throws Left . 6-foot-3, 212 pounds. Born Febryar 10, 2006.

MLB.com Scouting Report - While Carter Johnson is the consensus top high school prospect in Alabama, some evaluators believe Terrell has a higher ceiling. He's a physical left-handed hitter who draws some comparisons to Cliff Floyd, albeit with less athleticism. Originally ticketed for Northwest Florida State JC, he committed to Auburn following a strong senior season. Terrell's raw power is his best attribute, as he has 25-30 homer potential thanks to the strength and leverage in his 6-foot-3, 206-pound frame. There are mixed reports on his hitting ability, though his proponents like his gap-to-gap approach, plate discipline and pitch recognition. He has a sound left-handed swing with impressive bat speed, though he won't fully tap into his pop until he improves his timing. Terrell moves well for his size and can flash plus straight-line speed, though he plays as more of an average runner on the diamond. He probably fits best in left field with his average arm and could be a quality defender if he winds up at first base. He'll need some time to develop but the payoff could be huge. Scouting grades: Hit: 45 | Power: 55 | Run: 50 | Arm: 50 | Field: 50 | Overall: 45 Video

Adam Cole @colereporter Replying to @colereporter Another #Auburn signee gets selected in similar fashion. Toronto takes OF D'Marion Terrell at No. 577 overall in the 19th round. Like Gatwood, Terrell was considered a way higher value, sitting at No. 153 on the same board that had Gatwood slated just outside the top 100.

Taylor Blake Ward @TaylorBlakeWard. Blue Jays 19-577: D'Marion Terrell, OF, Thompson HS (AL) -- physical/athletic LHH prep outfielder, quick cut w/ frequent hard contact and plus bat spd/phys to tap into abv/+ raw pwr, fair discipline/approach, plus runner w/ athleticism/strong arm to play whole OF (Auburn commit)

Round 20 - 607th overall. SS Bryce Martin-Grudzielanek, UC San Diego. Bats Right, Throws Right. 6 -foot-3, 185 pounds. Born June 4, 2003.

Twitter Reaction

Taylor Blake Ward @TaylorBlakeWard. Blue Jays 20-607: Bryce Martin-Grudzielanek, SS, USC -- toolsy RHH infielder, advanced all fields hitter w/ phys-based pwr projection, solid approach, avg runner w/ fair dirt actions that could make him versatile 2B/3B, son of 15yr MLBer Mark
