Vancouver Canadians

The Vancouver Canadians have gotten off to a hot start in the 2nd half of their Northwest League season going 4-0. Vancouver beat Hillsboro 3-1 Wednesday night, extending that streak to five.

Despite a 1/2 hour rain delay to start this game, Vancouver got on the board first as they scored one run in the third and two in the fourth thanks to a Jeff Wehler single that scored Je'Von Ward.

Estiven Machado followed that up with another single scored Wehler allowing Vancouver to take a 3-0 lead after the 4th inning.

The Canadians Pat Gallagher went seven innings, allowing no runs on two walks and two strikeouts. He is 2-4 on the season with a 5.04 ERA.

The bullpen ran into some trouble in this one though as Chay Yeager struggled in the eight to get the Hops baserunners out.

Josh Mollerus inherited a bases loaded situation in that same inning and held the Hops to a single run thanks to a key strikeout and savvy fielding by Vancouver. He nailed it down in the ninth for the C’s.

The Canadians and Hops play again tonight at 7:05 pm at Nat Bailey Stadium. The series continues through Sunday.

Buffalo Bisons

The Buffalo Bisons dropped a 7-4 decision to the Syracuse Mets Wednesday as the Mets scored seven runs in innings five through nine for the victory.

Buffalo did actually lead this game 2-0 after four frames thanks to a Will Robertson triple and MaxMcDowell reaching first base on a fielder’s choice that scored Damiano Palmegiani.

Alan Roden’s RBI single in the fifth scored Michael Turconi but the Mets scored one run in their half of the sixth and two in the seventh and eight innings on their way to the victory.

Today’s game has no announced starters. First pitch will be at 6:35pm.

New Hampshire Fisher Cats

The New Hampshire Fisher Cats took a 12-6 pounding at the hands of the Hartford Yard Goats Wednesday night with 11 of Hartford’s runs being scored in the fifth, sixth and seventh innings.

New Hampshire did lead this game 5-0 by the end of the second inning as Zach Britton’s three run homer in the first and Ryan McCarty’s solo shot in the second.

Hartford’s big blow came in the bottom of the fifth when Kyle Datres three run homer made it 8-5. The Yard Goats would add three more in the sixth and one in the seventh to get the win.

Today’s game sees the Fisher Cats send CJ Van Eyk (2-5 7.69 ERA) to the mound. First pitch will be at 7:10 PM ET.

Dunedin Blue Jays

The Dunedin Blue Jays were 4-2 losers to the Lakeland Flying Tigers Wednesday night thanks to strong fifth and six innings which saw the Tigers score four runs.

Ricky Tiedemann looked sharp in his third rehab start as he went 2.1 innings with five strikeouts and two walks. Jays reliever Jorge Bautista took the brunt of the Tigers scoring though in four innings of work. He surrendered four runs on five hits against the two walks and nine strikeouts.

Dunedin led 1-0 after their half of the third inning thanks to a Victor Arias triple that scored Nicolas Deschamps.

In the fifth, an Adrian Meza single scored Yeuni Munoz to give the Blue Jays the lead but a Daneurys De La Cruz solo shot in the fifth and a two run triple by Samuel Gil in the sixth gave Lakeland the lead in the ball game. They would add another in that frame and close it down from there.
