NOTES
Ricky Tiedemann has been healthy through three starts this season. And that's the best thing about his season so far. Ricky has had control problems. He walked three and hit two batters on Thursday. He also was taken deep twice. All of this in 3.2 innings. Year to date Ricky has walked nine in eight innings and hit three batters. His WHIP is 2.00. He has given up three home runs in eight innings. On a marginally positive note, he has ten strikeouts, including seven on Thursday. Ricky is relatively inexperienced and now his task is to learn how to command his pitches to cut down on walks and get deeper into games.
Damiano Palmegiani his his first home run of the season, one of his two hits. Will Robertson was promoted to the number three spot in the order and walked twice, but no hits.
New Hampshire had 13 hits. It's time to start talking about Josh Kasevich. He had three hits including two doubles. His batting average is .435 and his OPS is over 1000. Small sample but bears watching. Another one to watch is Phil Clarke who also had three hits and he too is hitting over .400. And just to make it three, Gabriel Martinez is hitting .304 and is playing well after a down 2023.
Trenton Wallace struck out five and gave up two runs in 4.2 innings.
Dunedin improved to 5-1. When you look at the batting averages most players are down around the .200 mark. Victor Arias is the one exception, he homered on Thursday and is hitting .368. The Jays are winning thanks to their pitching. The bullpen has been outstanding and the starters decent. Thursdays starter, Grant Rogers, was better than decent as he made his pro debut on Thursday. He went four shutout innings with six K's. He did walk four though. Rogers was an eleventh round pick last season out of McNeese State. Rogers threw all the pitches, 4 seam, cutter, sinker, slider, change up and curve. He topped out at 93 mph.
