Vancouver Canadians
The Vancouver Canadians were blanked 10-0 in Game Two of the NorthWest League Championship Series by the Everett Aquasox on Wednesday night. This series is now tied 1-1. The Best-of-5 series now heads to Rogers Field at Nat Bailey Stadium, where Game 3 is set for Friday night.
Coming off Tuesday’s 3-0 win in the opener, it was Everett who scored 10 runs in the first three innings to cruise to the victory.
Two walks then a three-run homer by Ben Ramirez in the first as well as four runs off of a grand slam from Victor Labrada in the third counted for seven of the 10 runs.
Devereaux Harrison took the brunt of Everett’s offence and was removed after only two innings. His pitching line showed four hits, nine runs, eight of them earned to go with four walks and one strikeout. He has a 36.00 ERA to go with an 0-1 record.
Buffalo Bisons
The Buffalo Bisons scored nine runs to defeat the Scranton/Wilkes-Barre RailRiders Wednesday night.
Luis De Los Santos’s third grand slam of the season in the 7th made the game 8-1. The Bisons added another run in the 8th to round out the scoring thanks to Orelvis Martinez’s third RBI of the night. Buffalo finished the night going 4-for-8 with runners in scoring position. They didn’t generate any offence for the first six innings.
Gabriel Ponce and five other Buffalo pitchers allowed only one run, with Ponce giving up the solo home run to Jesus Bastidas.
The series is now tied at 1-1. Wes Parsons will start for Buffalo with the first pitch scheduled for 6:35 p.m.
New Hampshire Fisher Cats
The New Hampshire Fisher Cats swatted three home runs for a 5-1 victory.
Rainer Nunez hit his ninth homer off the batter’s eye in the fourth and Devonte Brown hit his second Double-A homer in the fifth to widen the lead to three.
Brown hit another homer in the seventh for his first multi-homer game at Double-A. He had another for the Vancouver Canadians back on August 13. The 24-year-old outfielder led the Fisher Cats with three hits on the night.
Right-hander Chad Dallas made his last start of the season for the Fisher Cats. He went 4.2 innings, allowed one run on seven hits, and four walks and struck out seven. It was a no decision for Dallas who finishes the season with a 4.10 ERA over 96.1 innings with 107 strikeouts.
RHP Luis Quinones (4-4, 4.98 ERA) will get the start for New Hampshire against RHP Yoendrys Gomez (0-3, 3.69 ERA) for Somerset tonight.
