Vancouver Canadians
The Vancouver Canadians jumped out to an early lead with two unearned runs in the top of the first inning but it was the Tri-City Bus Devils who scored when it mattered most getting two runs in the bottom of the 10th inning to get the 3-2 walk-it off win.
Vancouver did have a chance to score in the 10th but their runner, who is placed on 2nd as part of the extra innings rules, was picked off. The Dust Devils capitalized on their chance to score in the bottom of the inning off of an infield single.
Devereaux Harrison had a strong start with five innings of work, surrendering a solo homer in the fifth as his only earned run. He also allowed four hits, struck out four and had no walks. He ends the season at 5-5 with a 2.95 ERA.
The Canadians are back at it today in Tri-City with the series knotted at one game a piece. Kevin Miranda is on the mound against Nick Horvath for the Dust Devils.
Buffalo Bisons
The Buffalo Bisons lost for the first time in eight games falling 8-5 to the Lehigh Valley Iron Pigs Wednesday night.
This one went to 11 innings and it was a double by the IronPigs Dustin Peterson that cleared the bases and made it 8-5. Buffalo couldn’t get a hit from reliever Ben Bowden who shut them down in the bottom of the inning.
The Bisons had made it 5-5 in the eighth inning with four straight walks. Nathan Lukes and Damian Palmegiani singled to score two runs and Addison Barger walked home with the bases loaded to make it 5-5.
The Bisons and IronPigs are at it again today at 6:05 pm local time with starters to be announced.
New Hampshire Fisher Cats
The New Hampshire Fisher Cats were also losers Wednesday to the Bowie Baysox in extra innings 8-5. They now have a 1-11 record in extra-inning games.
Riley Tirotta continues his strong Double-A play hitting a solo shot to right field in the third inning to open the scoring. That’s his 2nd straight game with a home run and he now has seven on the year. He also has four extra-base hits, two home runs and seven RBIs in September.
Rainer Nunez would even the score at 4-4 after the Baysox had stormed out to a 4-1 lead in their half of the sixth inning. His double to right cashed in all three runs after the Fisher Cats had loaded the bases.
Michael Dominguez was back on the mound for this game getting a no-decision on an outing that saw him throw four innings and allowed three runs on two hits to go with three walks and three strikeouts.
RHP Zach Haake (1-4, 5.67 ERA) will start for Reading while the Fisher Cats haven’t named a starter. Game time is 7:05 pm tonight.
Dunedin Blue Jays
The Jupiter Hammerheads took the second game of this series over the Dunedin Blue Jays 10-4 despite Dunedin scoring four runs in the first.
The Hammerheads scored singles in the second and third innings, three in the fifth and ninth and two in the 6th.
One of the key moments in the game was when Jupiter’s Brett Roberts grounded out and that allowed Jordan McCants to score. That made it 5-4 Hammerheads. Tony Bullard then crushed a two-run homer in the sixth to make it 7-4 and the Hammerheads did not relinquish the lead again.
The Hammerheads and Blue Jays play the third game of their series today starting at 6:30pm EST. Starters for each team have not been announced.
