Vancouver Canadians

The Vancouver Canadians have never been held hitless since joining the Toronto Blue Jays farm system. Still, there is a first time for everything as Spokane Chiefs starter Anderson Pilar threw seven scoreless innings, struck out 13 and reliever Brayan Castillo slammed the door for the last two innings to allow Spokane to get the 4-0 win.

Devereaux Harrison was solid for the Canadians surrendering three runs over his six innings of work. He struck out six and didn’t walk a batter. The offence mustered only four walks and didn’t get a runner into scoring position.

The Canadians are back at it today at 7:05 p.m. with Kevin Miranda on the hill against Spokane’s Mason Green. This series is tied 1-1.

Buffalo Bisons

With recent major league duty with Toronto, Nathan Lukes had himself a day at the plate as did Orelvis Martinez as they both had two runs scored and 3 hits in a game that saw Buffalo blast Syracuse 14-2.

Lukes had two RBI’s while Martinez had five in a game where the Bisons scored three in the fourth, sixth and ninth innings as well as two in the first and seventh.

The fourth inning proved to be the turning point when the two errors off a ground ball touched off a three-run rally in which Lukes drove in Mason McCoy and Jamie Ritchie. Spencer Horwitz was hit by a pitch with the bases loaded for his 68th RBI of the season and extending the lead to three.

The Bisons and Mets will meet on Thursday evening at 6:35 p.m. for the third game of their six-game series in Syracuse.

New Hampshire Fisher Cats

The New Hampshire Fisher Cats couldn’t extend their rally in the ninth and fell 4-2 to the Binghamton Rumble Ponies on Wednesday night.

Will Robertson hit a two-run homer, his 13th of the season. The 25-year-old outfielder has hit three home runs in his last four games but it still wasn’t enough.

Binghamton tagged Ricky Tiedemann (0-4) for two runs in the second. He is struggling at the Double-A level and is still in search of his first win. He only pitched 1.2 innings yesterday and allowed two runs, three hits and three walks over three strikeouts, receiving the loss.

The Rumble Ponies starting right-hander Tyler Stuart (3-2), threw six scoreless innings over two hits and no walks with six strikeouts to pick up the win.

Tonight it’s RHP Michael Dominguez (1-0, 3.97 ERA) for New Hampshire against RHP Luis Moreno (8-5, 4.88 ERA) for Binghamton. Game time is 7:05 pm

Dunedin Blue Jays

Dunedin’s game last night was suspended due to rain. Thursday’s game will resume as a seven-inning contest. Gates will open at 4 pm for a 5 pm first pitch.
