It would be more fun if this was the major leagues but instead it's the Dunedin Blue Jays no-hitting the Tampa Yankees. Four pitchers combined on the no-hitter. Normally Estiven Machado hitting a grand slam would make top billing but he had to settle for number two behind the no-hitter. Buffalo had six pitchers combine to shutout the Mets. Andres Sosa had a big day for Vancouver to help them win. New Hampshire were on the losing end.

Buffalo 2 Syracuse 0

Erie 5 New Hampshire 2

Vancouver 5 Eugene 2

Tampa 0 Dunedin 5

This is what I noted from yesterday's games.

Six Buffalo pitchers combined on the shutout. All of them pitched well.

Gabriel Moreno was back in the lineup as the DH. He doubled in the first inning and came around to score on a single by Zach Collins. Chavez Young manufactured the second run in the second inning. He singled, stole second and stole third, coming come on a catcher throwing error. Buffalo had 12 hits but only scored the two runs. They left 15 men on base. Otto Lopez has been hot recently and he added three hits on Sunday.

Paxton Schultz gave up four runs but only one was earned. Addison Barger made an error leading off the third inning. A single and a walk loaded the bases. But Schultz got two outs and if not for the error would have been out of the inning. But the next hitter doubled, clearing the bases. In the fourth he allowed a single, then got two outs, but again a two out hit, a triple, made it four runs allowed by Schultz.

Cam Eden had homered in the second inning, a two run shot, that accounted for all New Hampshire runs. He Fisher Cats had just five hits in the game.

Jimmy Robbins needed 75 pitches to get through three innings. He was charged with two runs. Four pitchers followed with Jol Concepcion pitching the last 2.1 inning, striking out six of the seven outs.

Andres Sosa doubled in Vancouver's first run in the fifth inning. Dasan Brown followed with his first high A home run to make it 3-2. Andres Sosa doubled again in the seventh and scored on a wild pitch. Sosa then singled in Gabriel Martinez in the eighth. Sosa was 3-4, Gabriel Martinez and Damiano Palmegiani had two hits each.

Kendry Rojas was on the IL for over two months and made one rehab start in the FCL. He started on Sunday but just pitched two innings, walking one. Cooper Benson followed and went four innings, he walked two. Sam Ryan went two perfect innings leaving new draftee Ian Churchill to handle the ninth. That was no problem and the no hitter was complete.

The Jays scored five runs on six hits and six walks. The big blow was a grand slam by Estiven Macahdo. Machado's hitting was up and down in the first half of the season but he has improved. He has hit over .300 in both July and August and his walk rate and strikeout rate have improved too.

Three Stars
