Buffalo had two hits and won 5-3. On the other hand New Hampshire had 12 hits and also won. Vancouver won thanks to a ninth inning rally while Dunedin scored four in the first inning, plenty for Dahian Santos.
Buffalo 5 Columbus 3
New Hampshire 6 Akron 3
Vancouver 4 Hillsboro 2
St Lucie 1 Dunedin 5
This is what I noted from yesterday's games.
The Bisons game was delayed after rain arrived in the first inning. Buffalo were hitless through five innings but in the sixth the Yankees loaded the bases with three walks. Zach Collins then had the first hit of the game for the Bisons, a grand slam.
Maximo Castillo went 4.2 innings with just one hit allowed. He used 77 pitches, 47 strikes and 30 balls so he could have been more efficient. He walked two and struck out five. Graham Spraker relieved him and was taken deep twice for three runs in the sixth to make it a 4-3 game.
The Collins hit was the Bisons only hit until there were two outs in the ninth when Logan Warmoth went deep. Derek Holland got the save.
Six runs on 12 hits for New Hampshire. Rafael Lantigua went 3-4 with a walk and a double. He scored two and drove in two. Orelvis hit a two run shot and LJ Talley a solo homer. Zac Cook and Chris Bec had two hits each. Bec had an unusual play at the plate. Bec tried to tag a runner at the plate but the runner ran wide to avoid the tag. Bec had dived and was on the ground and so he just adjusted his body to sit on the plate so the runner couldn't get to it.
Paxton Schultz had a good start, five innings, one run but just one strikeout.
Ricky Tiedemann made his second start for Vancouver. He went five shutout innings, one hit, no walks and four K's. He used 56 pitches, 41 strikes and 15 balls. He got eight groundball outs versus two fly balls.
The C's trailed 2-0 headed to the ninth. Miguel Hiraldo has had a tough start to 2022 but he came to the plate in the ninth with the bases loaded and one out. He tripled to right scoring all three runners. He then scored on a sac fly. 4-2 for the C's and a nice win.
Dunedin scored four in the first inning to make life comfortable for starter Dahian Santos. Gabriel Martinez singled in the first run then Damiano Palmegiani hit a three run home run. Martinez added another RBI single in the ninth.
Dahain Santos went 4.2 innings with his usual lots of strikeouts, nine in this game. He allowed just one hit, a solo home run while walking three.
