Samad Taylor took over the Buffalo game in the tenth inning and generated a win with his bat and his legs. Hits were scarce in the lower levels and to make it worse Vancouver and Dunedin made errors that contributed to their losses. Across five games the affiliates had 26 hits or an average just over five per game. Only two hitters in the system had a multi hit game. Buffalo were the only winners.

Buffalo 9 Worcester 7 - 10 innings

Reading 8 New Hampshire 0

Vancouver 0 Hillsboro 5 - game one

Vancouver 1 Hillsboro 2 - game two, 8 innings

Dunedin 4 Bradenton 5

This is what I noted from yesterday's games.

In regular innings Logan Warmoth doubled in three runs to turn a deficit into a lead. It was his only hit of the day and after a tough week his average is down to .268. Nick Podkul later drove in two runs to give Buffalo a brief lead.

In extra innings Jordan Groshans walked to add to the ghost runner on second. Samad Taylor, who had been hitless to this point, doubled in both runners and went to third on the throw home. Taylor then stole home on the catcher's throw back to the pitcher. The catcher had not looked down to check on Taylor.

Thomas Hatch started and he wasn't as good as his last start. He did strike out nine in five innings but he also conceded four runs on seven hits.

It was a tough night for New Hampshire, just six hits for the batters, and Hayden Juenger had a not so great start. He threw just 2.1 innings and was charged with four runs. He needed 60 pitches to get through the 2.1 innings.

For game one in Vancouver, Chad Dallas gave up four runs but only one run was earned. The second baseman, shortstop and third baseman each made an error that led to a run. The batters were held to four hits.

Game two was a tight affair with Hillsboro winning in extra innings. The hitters repeated their output in game one, just four hits, making a two game total of eight hits. That's not a recipe for wins. On the bright side Adam Kloffenstein had his best start of the season, five innings pitched with one run on three hits. He used a tidy 74 pitches.

Bradenton scored five runs against Dunedin but only one was earned. A couple of errors, a passed ball, and hit batters all led to runs. Michael Dominguez started and went 3.2 innings. The three runs scored off him were all unearned.
