One win out of three games on the farm. Buffalo dominated Syracuse with Logan Warmoth leading a parade of hitters. Both Vancouver and Dunedin were down early and couldn't come back. New Hampshire were hurricaned out.
Buffalo 9 Syracuse 2
New Hampshire at Hartford - postponed, hurricane
Tri-City 6 Vancouver 4
Fort Myers 10 Dunedin 5
This is what I noted from yesterday's games.
The Bisons outhit Syracuse 13-4. Casey Lawrence supplied good starting pitching, five innings, two hits, one solo home run. Nate Pearson also pitched an inning and he too gave up a solo home run to sometime major leaguer Albert Almora.
Logan Warmoth was 2-2 with a walk and three runs batted in. Several other hitters also had two hits, Richard Urena, Cullen Large, Christian Colon and Kellen Deglan. Colon homered, his 13th. No hitter in Buffalo is beating down the doors for a callup. The two most likely, Forrest Wall and Josh Palacios have an OPS of .708 and .610 respectively.
The C's were down 5-0 before they scored a run. Starter Alex Nolan just pitched four innings. Hagen Danner was one of the relief pitchers used, he threw two shutout innings. Danner has appeared in 17 games. In five of those he has conceded a run but two of those were the two games he pitched before he went on the IL. His ERA for the season is 2.42 and his WHIP is 1.04. He has only allowed 16 hits in 26 innings. He has walked eleven, not bad for a first year pitcher (professionally). He has 31 K's in those 26 innings. Danner missed six weeks in June and July due to injury. In some ways that injury might be beneficial. This is his first year pitching and the injury gave him a break and presumably his arm a break in a stressful year one on the mound.
The C's scored a run in the fourth, Zac Cook doubled home Orelvis Martinez. They added three in the eighth but it was too little, too late. Orelvis was 1-4, it was his first hit since Tuesday. Eric Rivera was 2-4.
Fort Myers racked up 15 hits and nine walks against seven Dunedin pitchers. Naswell Paulino started and was hit around a bit.
The Jays did have ten hits. Steward Berroa, Miguel Hiraldo and Hugo Cardona had two each, scored a run each and drove in a run, each. Cardona hit a home run. Hiraldo made his 19th error.
Three Stars
Third Star - Hugo Cardona
Second Star - Richard Urena
First Star - Logan Warmoth
