Buffalo 5 Syracuse 3
The Bisons beat the Mets again after falling behind 2-0 in the early going. A two-run double by Alejandro Kirk tied the game in the third. RBI singles by Kevin Smith and Christan Colón proved to be the difference. Kirk and Colon had two-hit nights with Kirk getting pulled in the sixth inning after Danny Jansen pulled a hamstring. Cullen Large and Nash Knight had doubles. Logan Warmoth walked twice and stole a base.
Aaron Beasley allowed two runs in 1-2/3 innings on two hits and two walks but struck out four. Jacob Waguespack stranded a Beasley runner and pitched three shutout innings for the win. Wags only gave up a hit and.a walk and struck out two. Connor Overton stranded a runner but gave up a run in 2-1/3 innings on three hits but matched that with three whiffs. Bryan Baker and Kirby Snead locked it down in the final two innings with a punch out apiece.
Reading 7 New Hampshire 6
The Fightin' Phils got past the Fightin' Fisher Cats again after erasing a 4-1 deficit. RBI knocks by Jordan Groshans and Chavez Young and a two-run double by Vinny Capra in the fourth provided New Hampshire with the early advantage. Chris Bec hit a two-run homer in the ninth, his first Double-A tater. Bec, Young and Otto Lopez all had two-hit games. Groshans was on base twice with a hit and a walk while Austin Martin and Samad Taylor were 0-for-4 with a walk. Taylor started a 7-4-2 play to cut down a runner at the plate for the final out of the ninth.
Reilly Hovis was in line for the win after pitching five innings of two-run ball on three hits and a walk. He struck out five and picked up six outs on the dirt. Mike Ellenbest, Graham Spraker and Fitz Stadler all gave up runs in relief with Spraker taking the loss.
Everett 6 Vancouver 2
The Mariners affiliate snapped a 1-1 tie with five runs in the latter half of the game to pull away for the win. Zac Cook doubled in a Philip Clarke double to tie the game in the fourth. Tanner Morris mashed his fourth homer of the year in the eighth. Morris had two hits on the night. Clarke reached base twice by taking one for the team. Sebastian Espino had the other base rap as Vancouver was held to five hits for a second straight night. Eric Rivera drew the lone walk.
Nick Fraze gave up a run on a hit and a walk with two strikeouts over two innings. Brandon Eisert spun two shutout frames but Willy Gaston coughed up two runs in his inning of work to take the loss. Parker Caracci coughed up three runs in 1-2/3 innings. Connor Law finished up 1-1/3 scoreless frames.
Dunedin 11 Lakeland 2
The Flying Tigers were grounded by the D-Jays 11-hit, eight-walk attack. Orelvis Martinez mashed a pair of homers and added a single, a walk and a stolen base. His 16th homer of the year went out to right-center field before pulling his 17th over the wall in left. Zach Britton also had three hits, including his fourth homer of the season, and stole a base. Anthony Morales had two knocks and a swipe. Dasan Brown and Harrison Ray both walked with Ray stealing his 15th bag.
Naswell Paulino put together six shutout innings with just two hits and two walks. His strikeout and groundout totals were five apiece. Rafael Monsion gave up two runs in the seventh. Juan DePaula pitched the final two frames with no runs across.
FCL Phillies 7 FCL Blue Jays 3
The Jays scored first and last but had just one of the next eight runs in between. Darlin Guzman had two hits and an RBI groundout and Angel Del Rosario put up a two in the hit column and stole a base. Amell Brazoban doubled home a run and Rikelvin De Castro walked twice.
Jonatan Bernal took the loss as he was jolted for five runs (three earned) on eight hits, two walks and a hit by pitch in four innings. He served up a home run and struck out only one. Soenni Martinez surrendered two runs in two innings. Kelvin Perez struck out three over two shutout innings and Brayan Mejia put up a zero in the ninth with a punch out.
