The top of the farm did poorly. Buffalo lost two, New Hampshire one. The lower tier did better. Vancouver won, Dunedin split a doubleheader with Tampa, and the FCL Jays scored 15 against the Yankees.
Buffalo 3 Rochester 7 - game one
Buffalo 3 Rochester 4 - game two
New Hampshire 3 Binghamton 6
Spokane 3 Vancouver 5
Tampa 14 Dunedin 2 - game 1
Tampa 1 Dunedin 5 - game 2
FCL Blue Jays 15 FCL Yankees 2
This is what I noted from yesterday's games.
The first Bisons game was a continuation of yesterdays suspended game. TJ Zeuch came on to pitch but gave up five runs in five innings. Cullen Large hit his third home run.
In game two, Casey Lawrence gave up three runs in the first inning. The Bisons fought back to tie, thanks, in part, to a two run home run from Breyvic Valera. But Joel Payamps was taken deep by Corban Joseph to take the loss.
Simeon Woods Richardson started poorly, he made an error at a play at first and then allowed a two run home run. He then retired eleven hitters in a row (if you count a caught stealing) before a walk and two doubles in the fifth led to two more runs. He came back out for the sixth and gave up two more. So a mix of good and bad. SWR is now off to the Olympics for a while.
Jordan Groshans had two of the Fisher Cats six hits.
The C's scored one in the sixth to tie and two in the eighth to win. In the sixth Ryan Gold tripled and scored on a sac fly. In the eighth DJ Neal singled and Eric Rivera walked. Rafael Lantigua singled in a run and Tanner Morris added a sac fly. Lantigua was 3-5. Luis De Los Santos had two more hits. He has had 10 multi hit games in his last 14.
CJ Van Eck started and pitched five innings. He was charged with three runs on five hits. He struck out six.
The Tampa machine racked up 14 runs in game one. They had just eight hits but ten walks. Naswell Paulino walked eight in three innings. That automated strike zone still seems to be causing issues for the pitchers. The Jays had only four hits but two of them were home runs. Addison Barger hit his eighth, PK Morris added his seventh.
Just like on Thursday, Dunedin rebounded from a spanking in game one to win game two. Andrew Bash went five innings, holding Tampa to just one run. Zac Cook went 3-3 with a triple and scored three runs. Miguel Hiraldo also had three hits, he drove in two. Orelvis Martinez and Steward Berroa had two hits each.
Fifteen runs on ten hits for the FCL Jays. Adriel Sotolongo, the Cuban DH, homered, and was 2-4 with three runs scored and two RBI. There is a lot of subbing in and out in these games so 14 hitters came to the plate and seven pitchers were used.
Three Stars
Third Star - Miguel Hiraldo
Second Star - Rafael Lantigua
First Star - Zac Cook
