Here is your abbreviated Victoria Day weekend minor league update. New Hampshire bats were hot but Zach Logue didn't need much hotness. Buffalo rallied in the ninth for the win. Three Dunedin pitchers combined on a two hit shutout. Vancouver lost.
Buffalo 6 Worcester 4
Portland 4 New Hampshire 12
Vancouver 3 Hillsboro 4
Dunedin 1 Clearwater 0
This is what I noted from yesterday's games.
The Bisons scored three runs in the top of the ninth off former Jay Marcus Walden. A Riley Adams home run tied the game, then four straight hits scored two more. Adams was 2-2 despite not starting the game. Kevin Smith also had two hits including his fourth home run.
Nate Pearson pitched three innings with two hits allowed and four K's.
Austin Martin and Gabriel Moreno were each 3-4 with a double. Martin started slowly but has his average up to .273 now. LJ Talley who had two home runs yesterday, had two doubles and 3 RBI in this game. Samad Taylor who had four hits yesterday had two more today.
Zach Logue went six innings with one run allowed. In four starts this year Logue has 27 K's in 21.1 innings. He has only walked three. His WHIP is .84.
Nick Fraze pitched six strong innings with just one run allowed. His ERA is now 2.12 and his WHIP is .65. He was followed by Cobi Johnson who gave up three runs and took the loss.
Ryan Gold and Tanner Morris homered in the losing cause.
Dunedin's pitchers were awful in the first week of the season but they have settled down. Three pitchers combined on a two hit shutout. Willy Garcia, Jiorgeny Casimiri and Adrian Hernandez were the pitchers.
The D Jays only run came from a single and two Clearwater errors.
Three Stars
Third Star - Austin Martin
