Two hitters hit a pair of home runs on Saturday. Riley Adams is back with Buffalo and went deep twice. In Dunedin PK Morris also hit a pair of jacks and drove in six runs. Dunedin's pitchers continued to take it on the chin, with one exception. Overall it was a split night on the farm with Buffalo and Vancouver winning.
Worcester 6 Buffalo 8
New Hampshire 1 Portland 5
Vancouver 4 Tri-City 2
Dunedin 11 Tampa 12
This is what I noted from yesterday's games.
Jacob Waguespack struck out nine hitters in four innings. But he also gave up five runs on ten hits.
Riley Adams hit two home runs, both solo shots. Forrest Wall and Kevin Smith had two hits each.
Maximo Castillo made his first AA start and it was a "learning experience". H was charged with five runs on seven hits in three innings. Two of the runs were unearned as Groshans and Taylor made errors. It was odd because the Fisher Cats threw two men out at the plate for the second game in a row. I guess the return to real game action in front of fans has left many players rusty.
The Cats had seven hits. Chavez Young was the only hitter with two, he is hitting .278. Austin Martin and Jordan Groshans were hitless although Martin was hit by a pitch. Gabriel Moreno had the day game off after a night game.
The C's got some good pitching, the two runs they allowed were unearned. Troy Watson started and threw three shutout innings. Nick Fraze followed with four shutout innings.
Ryan Gold drove in three of the C's runs. He was 2-4 with a double. Cameron Eden had two hits, a walk and two stolen bases.
The Dunedin Jays have been searching for some decent pitching this year. For a couple of innings it looked like Winder Garcia was the answer. He got as far at two and two thirds without allowing a run but then a bases loaded walk and a grand slam ended his night. Sem Robberse came on in relief and did well initially but run into trouble in his third inning. He left with one run in and the bases loaded. His countryman Jiorgeny Casimiri
let all those runners score along with three of his own. Roither Hernandez pitched two shutout innings to preserve his zero ERA, an achivement on this team.PK Morris (not Tanner) hit two home runs and drove in six runs. Zach Britton picked up three hits. Eric Rivera had two more hits.
Three Stars
Third Star - Ryan Gold
