Thomas Pannone had his ups and downs in Toronto but, now that he is back in Buffalo, he punched out eight hitters in four innings. Anthony Alford had three hits in the Bisons win. New Hampshire lost in the tenth inning. Vancouver lost despite strong pitching from Canadian pitcher Alex Nolan. Bluefield had good hitting and good pitching in their shutout win. The DSL Jays also won. Neither Dunedin (rain) or Lansing (all-star) played.
Indianapolis 3 Buffalo 6
Thomas Pannone made his way back to Buffalo and he started. He just went four innings but they were four shutout innings with eight K's. He allowed just one hit. Buddy Boshers picked up the save.
The Bisons had 13 hits, five for extra bases. Home runs by Jordan Patterson and Richard Urena, both two run shots, led the way. Jonathan Davis had two doubles, Anthony Alford was 3-4 with a double. Bo Bichette was 0-4.
Binghamton 3 New Hampshire 2
This game went to extra innings tied at one. The Fisher Cats went ahead in the fourth inning on a sac fly by Logan Warmoth. Another sac fly tied the game in the sixth. And so the game went to extra innings. The tenth inning started with a runner on second. With two outs pitcher Dany Jimenez intentionally walked Braxton Lee. That was followed by a wild pitch, another walk to load the bases and a two run single. Vinny Capra singled in a consolation run in the bottom of the tenth.
New Hampshire had seven hits, all singles, Nash Knight had three of them. Zach Logue had a nice start, seven innings, five hits, no walks and three K's.
Dunedin
Dunedin's game was rained out. There has been lots of rain in Florida this year.
Lansing
Lansing are still in their all-star break.
Eugene 3 Vancouver 1
This was a tight game that could have gone either way. The C's had good pitching despite the loss. The starter was 22nd round pick Nick Fraze who allowed one run over three innings on two hits. Brock University's Alex Nolan followed and pitched five innings, just conceding an unearned run on fur hits.
The C's had seven hits, all singles. Two hitters had two hits, Trevor Schwecke and Yorman Rodriguez.
Bluefield 6 Elizabethton 0
A good game all around by the Jays. PK Morris, in his third go around in Bluefield, hit his first home run and went 2-4. Spencer Horwitz, 24th round pick this year, had three hits with two doubles out of the DH spot. Leonardo Jimenez was 2-4.
Lazardo Estrada, the 20 year old Cuban, started and pitched five shutout innings, four hits, no walks and four K's. He was followed by Naswell Paulino who pitched the last four innings,one hit, four K's.
DSL Blue Jays
It's the DSL so stuff happens. The Jays benefited from nine walks. The number one and two hitters eached walked three times and scored three runs each. Thats six runs for two hitters who had one hit between them. The best hitter on the team so far is 17 year old Javier D'Orazio. Through 13 games his OPS is 923.
Wilgenis Alvarado threw five shutout innings. Alvarado has pitched well although he doesn't strike guys out. The Jays won 7-3.
