Yankees at Blue Jays, 4-6 June

The Bombers have at least a dozen players on one of the various Disabled Lists. This includes Jacoby Ellsbury and Didi Gregorius, who were known to be unavailable before any of this even started, as well as Greg Bird and Troy Tulowitzki, who at this stage would probably injure themselves watching baseball on television. Even so, Tulowitzki managed to appear in more games than Giancarlo Stanton, and it's my belief that the Yankees were rather counting on a more significant contribution from Stanton anyway. Aaron Judge has played in just 20 of 58 games so far. Miguel Andujar is out for the season. Luis Severino, who was their best starter last year, and Dellin Betances have yet to throw a pitch this season.

Doesn't any of this matter? Shouldn't it have cramped their style, just a little bit?

Sigh.

Shortstop Gleyber Torres, presumably Door #3 after Grigorius and Tulowitzki, is hitting .244/.261/.366 with 4 HR and 11 RBI in 45 games against the non-Orioles part of the major leagues. Against Baltimore, of course, he's hit 10 dingers in 11 games, with a slash line of .465/.540/1.233, which is... I don't know what it is.

Wed 5 June - Paxton (3-2, 2.81) vs Thornton (1-4, 4.53)

Thu 6 June - Happ (5-3, 4.83) vs Jackson (0-3, 13.22)

The Jays have gone 7-24 since sweeping Oakland at home towards the end of April (the last series they won.) The Raptors are still providing cover, but it won't be long until the Jays are the only game in town still going. All eyes will be on them, albeit briefly, before turning away in Dread and Horror.
