Dunedin Prevents Organizational Weep

The game was tied at 1-1 after three innings before things went horribly askew for the Herd. Sean Reid-Foley left after four-plus innings due to a back/side strain according to John Lott. Reid-Foley gave up a home run among his five runs but two of the runs were unearned after his own throwing error. Buddy Boshers gave up a run in two innings, Corey Copping was cuffed for five in his one inning and Kirby Snead was slapped around for four more runs (three earned) in one frame. Jordan Patterson was needed to mop up in the ninth and gave up a run. Only Patterson did not serve up a long ball.

RBI singles by Anthony Alford and Socrates Brito provided the Bisons offence who were 2-for-16 with runners in scoring position, leaving 13 men on. Billy McKinney had a hit and two walks while Alford, Patterson, Richard Urena, Reese McGuire and Andy Burns had a hit and a walk apiece. Patrick Kivlehan was 0-for-1 in his Bisons debut. Teoscar Hernandez was 0-for-5 and Alen Hanson was 0-for-4.

Patrick Murphy was punked for seven runs over 4-2/3 innings on seven hits and four walks. He gave up a home run while posting strikeout and groundout totals of four. Vince Nittoli was nicked for an unearned run but yielded just one hit while striking out four over two frames.

Alberto Mineo mashed a three-run homer that tied the game at 4-4 in the fifth. Kevin Smith had an RBI double in the second. Forrest Wall was 2-for-2 with two walks. Nash Knight singled and walked. Vinny Capra, Santiago Espinal, Brock Lundquist, Riley Adams and Chad Spanberger all put a dent in the hit column.

Alejandro Kirk and Ryan Noda led the way for the D-Jays. Kirk doubled in the first run and scored on a Noda home run in the first before providing a single and sacrifice fly respectively in the third. Kirk would double in another run in the sixth. Kevin Vicuna went deep in the fourth and Logan Warmoth doubled in a run two innings later. Kirk was 3-for-3 with a walk while Warmoth and Cal Stevenson had two hits and a walk apiece. Demi Orimoloye had a hit, Cullen Large drew a walk but Chavez Young and Kacy Clemens were 0-for-4.

Maximo Castillo lasted six innings and gave up two runs on six hits. He struck out two and got seven outs on the ground. Dany Jimenez struck out two batters in the sixth. Connor Law yielded two runs in his one inning but struck out two. Brad Wilson gave up a run but struck out one in the ninth.

Cobi Johnson was jolted for six runs on seven hits and three walks over 4-1/3 innings and was taken deep three times to offset five strikeouts. Fitz Stadler gave up a two-run home run among six hits over 3-2/3 innings, walking one and whiffing two.

Gabriel Moreno belted a home run and had the only two-hit game for the Lugnuts. Nick Podkul, Jake Brodt and Hagen Danner had the other hits. Hunter Steinmetz was hit by a pitch but Tanner Kirwer (0-for-3), Reggie Pruitt (0-for-1), D.J. Neal (0-for-4), Luis De Los Santos (0-for-3) and Rafael Lantigua (0-for-3) were held in check.
