Otto Drives The Bus For Lansing

Patrick Murphy sat down the first seven hitter he faced but two doubles and two singles in the third produced three Mets runs. He loaded the bases on two walks and a hit by pitch in the fourth but he got out of it. A one-out fielding error by Chad Spanberger, a walk and a run-scoring double spelled the end of the night for Murphy. Tayler Saucedo ended the inning with two strikeouts. He would add two more whiffs against three walks and a hit over 2-1/3 scoreless innings. Ty Tice gave up a hit but racked up four strikeouts in 1-1/3 innings.

Kevin Smith drove in the game's first run with a double to score an Alberto Mineo base hit in the first but Smith would not put the ball in play again as he struck out three times. Mineo and Brock Lundquist had two hits apiece. Santiago Espinal and Vinny Capra had the other base knocks.

The Stone Crabs scored first but the D-Jays scored next, most and last. A Norberto Obeso fielder's choice in the fourth tied the game. Two errors along with a Christian Williams RBI single, a Samad Taylor home run and a Ryan Noda RBI safety accounted for the other runs. Cullen Large had two hits, a walk and two runs scored while Riley Adams singled, walked, was hit by a pitch and scored twice. Kevin Vicuna, Chavez Young and Demi Orimoloye also made a dent in the hit column.

Maximo Castillo scattered four hits and two walks and gave up just one run over 5-2/3 innings. He had three strikeouts and five of his 11 outs in play were on the ground. Jonathan Cheshire stranded a runner and pitched 2-1/3 scoreless frames of one-hit ball while punching out two for the win. Dany Jimenez allowed a hit and a walk but struck out one in a shutout ninth.

The Whitecaps scored first but the Lugnuts scored next, most and last.  Jordan Groshans got Lansing on the board in the seventh with a run-scoring single and Otto Lopez tied it with an RBI double that saw Groshans thrown out at home. RBI singles by Jake Brodt and Nick Podkul and a two-run single by Dominic Abbadessa settled the issue in the 10th. Reggie Pruitt had a three-hit effort and scored Lansing's first run. Lopez walked three times and Abbadessa walked twice. McGregory Contreras walked and had an assist by nailing a runner at second from left field.

Josh Winckowski worked around six hits and two walks to cap the Tigers affilaite to two runs over six frames. He struck out five and recorded nine groundball outs. Will McAffer got the win with three shutout innings as he worked around two hits and a walk with four K's. Jackson Rees struck out the side to finish things up. Rees has 14 whiffs and just one walk over eight innings this season.
