Kloffenstein Shines In GCL Debut

Aaron Sanchez surrendered four runs (three earned) on six hits and four walks over 4-1/3 innings for the loss. He struck out four and got seven outs on the dirt. Dusty Isaacs stranded two runners for Sanchez to finish the fifth. Hector Perez allowed just one hit and one walk and struck out three over the final three innings.

Bo Bichette was 3-for-5 with two RBI. Jon Berti was 2-for-4 with a double and two stolen bases. Santiago Espinal and Juan Kelly both doubled.

Back-to-back home runs by Samad Taylor and Chavez Young in the third jump-started a comeback from a 4-1 deficit for the Lugnuts. Sacrifice flies by Jesus Navarro and Brandon Grudzielanek brought Lansing all the way back. Reggie Pruitt was hit by a pitch, stole second and third and scored on a wild pitch in the first. Young and Bryan Lizardo had two hits apiece with Young also stealing two bags.

Maximo Castillo was charged for four runs on seven hits over five frames but struck out seven and did not walk anyone to get the win. Matt Shannon had a three-inning hold and Dany Jimenez closed it out in the ninth.

Yorrman Rodriguez had an RBI single in the first and Nick Podkul singled in another run in the fifth but Tri-City scored the last seven runs of the game. Brandon Polizzi and Sterling Guzman had two hits apiece.

Elio Silva allowed three runs but only one was earned during his five innings on three hits and a walk. He had two strikeouts and eight outs on the ground. Troy Miller was victimized for two more unearned runs in the sixth. Denis Diaz was demolished for five runs without retiring anybody. Will McAffer mopped up with two scoreless frames with one walk and two whiffs.

Bluefield had a 6-1 lead in the middle innings but could not hold on. Claudia Galva gave up a couple of runs on on eight hits over five innings with a 2-0 K/BB total. Andy McGuire was mauled for five runs in two-thirds of an inning. Josh Almonte stranded two runners for McGuire and pitched 1-1/3 shutout innings despite three walks. Sean Rackoski gave up a solo shot in the eighth for the loss.

Luis De Los Santos socked a three-run home run. Dominic Abbadessa had a hit and drove in a pair. Cal Stevenson, Alejandro Kirk and Gabriel Moreno all had a base hit and a base on balls. Only number nine hitter D.J. Daniels did not have a hit but he walked three times and stole two bases.

Adam Kloffenstein got his first professional inning under his belt. He walked one and struck out two in a scoreless first. Emanuel Vizcaino was torched for a converted touchdown over 3-1/3 innings but only three of the runs were unearned. Meliton Reyes was roughed up for two more runs in 2-2/3 innings before Gage Burland put up a pair of bagels.

Joseph Reyes was 3-for-4 with three RBI, including a two-run home run. Steward Berroa and Miguel Hiraldo had two-hit efforts. Hiraldo made two errors at third and Reyes made one at first. The Jays had five clanks in total.
