Sportsnet seems to be showing more Vladimir Guerrero Jr. highlights than Jays' highlights. I'm sure many here at Da Box will marvel how far we've come. I didn't know what hand Dustin McGowan threw with until he debuted. Nonetheless, our hope had a homerun streak that was snapped Sunday. He seems to be hitting homeruns for fun. I'm pumped. I do worry though about his weight as he looks like he's on that Pablo Sandoval spectrum, but I guess so are many of us and I was able to touch my toes yesterday.
Buffalo Bisons
Buffalo won Friday, lost Saturday, and won again—this time in the tenth—on Sunday. By now you’ve probably heard that Vladimir Guerrero Jr. was on some sort of homerun streak. That was snapped today in a rare O-fer. Danny Jansen said goodbye to AAA on Saturday with a double following a two-hit Friday. Anthony Alford had four hits across the three games while Billy McKinney decided to abstain from the concept of hitting safely entirely.
New Hampshire Fisher Cats
New Hampshire won Friday and lost Saturday. Sunday’s game was suspended after nine due to rain with the score knotted-up at one. T.J. Zeuch pitched six shutout innings in Friday’s win. Zeuch’s strikeout numbers are low for a guy with his reported stuff (and draft position), but he needed a 100 plus inning season and has delivered.
Dunedin Blue Jays
Dunedin were walked off Friday, lost again Saturday despite a furious late inning rally, and walked away comfortable winners Sunday. Kevin Smith had three hits Friday and Chad Spanberger homered as part of a two-hit day. Smith had a rough one Saturday—going hitless in six plate attempts and committing an error. Joshua Palacios though had four hits. Palacios, Smith, and Spanberger all homered in Sunday’s win.
Lansing Lugnuts
Lansing won Friday, lost Saturday, and won again Sunday. Chavez Young had an all-around day Friday. He homered, doubled, drove in four, walked, and stole a base. Reggie Pruitt hit a rare homerun Saturday and Ryan Noda homered on Sunday as part of a three-hit, four RBI day.
Vancouver Canadians
Vancouver scored four in the tenth to win Friday, won again in more conventional terms Saturday, and returned to the late inning magic Sunday with two in the tenth to sweep their weekend games. Sterling Guzman led the way with four hits Friday, where as three hits from Griffin Conine led the way Saturday. On Sunday four hitters shared honours with just one hit.
Bluefield Blue Jays
Bluefield saw rain Friday, a doubleheader sweep Saturday, and a loss Sunday. Cal Stevenson and Gabriel Moreno had four hits apiece across Saturday’s doubleheader. Moreno also drove in five and followed with another two RBI’s in Sunday’s loss.
GCL Blue Jays
The GCL squad won Friday and were rained out Saturday. Jordan Groshans golden sombrero’d in Friday’s game. Bets to get those out of the way early.
DSL Blue Jays
The DSL squad lost in extras on both Friday and Saturday. Miguel Hiraldo was hitless Friday and sat Saturday.
