Strong pitching performances at all levels as the usual suspects continued to hit.

Buffalo Bisons

Buffalo had an impressive weekend set. They won Friday, Saturday, and Sunday. Danny Jansen walked off the visiting Syracuse Chiefs as part of a three-hit, one walk day on Friday. Jansen was a homer from a cycle. Deck McGuire pitched eight innings of two run baseball. On Saturday, Chris Rowley allowed one unearned on seven innings of work. Dwight Smith Jr. paced the way with three hits and was himself a homer away from the cycle. Finally on Sunday, the Bisons won with a bit more comfort. Ryan Borucki was the star pitching seven shutout innings in his strongest start of this young 2018 season.

New Hampshire Fisher Cats

New Hampshire fought weather all weekend. Rained out on Friday and Sunday, the Fisher Cats played a doubleheader Saturday, wherein they swept the home Binghamton Rumble Ponies. Vladimir Guerrero Jr. had four hits across the two games and is now hitting two points shy of .400. Guerrero Jr. was also thrown out twice trying to stretch singles into doubles. Harold Ramirez had four hits across the two games as well. Bo Bichette was a tad more quiet, but nonetheless scored twice across the two games, walked twice, doubled, and registered two RBIs. Jordan Romano got the win in the second game, pitching five innings of two-run baseball. He now has five wins on the season.

Dunedin Blue Jays

Dunedin won two and lost one. Dunedin won Friday on the strength of seven shutout innings from Taylor Saucedo, won Saturday from a balanced offensive attack, and lost Sunday despite falling a run short of a comeback in the ninth. Logan Warmoth had three hits on Sunday and Angel Perdomo pitched three shutout (and walk free) innings on Saturday.

Lansing Lugnuts

Lansing got swept over the Friday-Sunday games. On Friday, Maxime Castillo’s five shutout innings of relief stemmed what was a rough four innings of baseball from Colton Laws and Brody Rodning. Kevin Smith had three hits and Kevin Vicuna, Kacy Clemens, and Samad Taylor homered. On Saturday, Kevin Smith’s two hits and two walks were just about the only highlights. Sunday was much the same as Chavez Young had three of Lansing’s four hits as Lansing was shutout.
