Josh Donaldson played his first rehab game and was hit by a pitch in his first at-bat before striking out twice in his two at-bats. JD was replaced by Matt Dean at third base. Donaldson handled four groundballs, getting three assists. Troy Tulowitzki was 0-for-2 with a walk and a strikeout before Kevin Vicuna took over at short. Tulo had three grounders head his way, getting two assists that included a 6-4-3 double play. Max Pentecost was 2-for-4 with a double, a walk and four runs batted in as the designated hitter.
T.J. Zeuch had a three-up, three-down first inning but gave up a home run to start the second and it was downhill from there. Four singles and a double produced four more runs in the frame. Four more singles and a walk led to three more runs in the third. Zeuch faced the minimum over the next two frames thanks to an inning-ending double play. Three of the singles were soft line drives and two were ground ball singles to third and short. He struck out five, walked two and had seven groundball outs.
Lansing Lugnuts
Vladimir Guerrero Jr. put together his fourth-straight multi-hit game by going 3-for-4 with a double, a walk and two RBI and is 10-for-15 overall. Bo Bichette went 2-for-3 with a double and a walk with a run knocked in. He has a trio of two-hit games in his last five. Bradley Jones doubled twice, scored twice and drove home three. The Lugnuts did the bulk of their damage against Indians 2015 first rounder Brady Aiken. Tayler Saucedo was an out short of getting the win so Chris Hall got it instead, his first Midwest League victory. Geno Encina threw two shutout frames to get his earned run average down to 0.96.
