Casey Lawrence is back in AAA and he pitched five good innings. Lawrence's start helped Buffalo split a double header. New Hampshire lost, again. Dunedin's hot bats were cooled off while the Lugnuts participated in another slugfest.

Buffalo

Casey Lawrence went five innings, only one unearned run allowed. Oddly, he had no strikeouts. Jarrett Grube was roughed up a bit in game one. Looking at the relievers who have been in Buffalo for most of the season, the best WHIP belongs toMurphy Smith at 0.8, the only reliever under one. In terms of strikeouts Leonel Campos and Matt Dermody have the best K9. Jeff Beliveau and Wil Browning follow closely.

Mike Ohlman and Rowdy Tellez each had two hits in game one and one in game two. Ohlman hit a home run, Tellez had a double. Ian Parmley had two hits in game two. Dwight Smith and Christian Lopes had a hit in each game.

New Hampshire

The Fisher Cats lost a one run game to run their record in such games to 0-8. This game was lost in the first inning, an error by Gunnar Heidt was followed by a double and a home run. The Cats were down 3-0 and ultimately lost 3-2. After that first inning Shane Dawson pitched well. He went six innings with four hits and no walks. Dawson's first start was horrible but in his last four starts Dawson has pitching 25 innings with 17 hits and 6 walks, for a WHIP under one. His strikeouts are low, 13 in 25 innings and his ground ball ratio is at .5. If he can up his strikeouts he could be looking at AAA or a call-up. He is still just 23 years old. Justin Shafer pitched the other two innings and he now had 19 K's in 16 innings.

New Hampshire had just four hits. Anthony Alford ended his hitless streak with a single and a walk. He and Tim Lopes, who doubled, are the only hitters in the lineup with averages over .250.

Dunedin

The D-Jays lost to the Yankees 3-1. Max Pentecost caught again and racked up two more hits, one a double. He did strikeout twice. Pentecost does not strikeout too much, around 20%, but he has only three walks. Most of the other hitters were hold down by the Yankee pitchers, the Jays had just five hits.

Conor Fisk started and was solid average through six innings, three runs allowed on seven hits with three K's. Tom Robson made his eighth appearance out of the pen. Robson has had two stinkers and six good appearances as he gets used to the reliever role.

Lansing

The Lugs keep slugging winning 9-7. Another 12 hits on Wednesday, plus six of their hitters were hit by a pitch. Those six hit batters is a Midwest League record. Vlad Jr. hit his fourth home run, one of his two hits. Josh Palacios had three hits and his average is moving up slowly, it is .237 now. The kids Yeltsin Gudino, 20 years old, and Edward Olivares, 21 years old, each had two hits with a double. Brad Jones was hit on the hand with a pitch and left the game.

Andy Ravel had a rough start, like many of the Lansing starters. He was done after three innings with five runs in. Peoria kept trying to claw their way back into the game and it took a clean inning each from the Jackson twins to hold them at bay. Zach Jackson and Jackson McClelland took care of the last six outs.
