Wins were hard to come by on the farm yesterday, but Richard Urena had a nice night and T.J. Zeuch looked a first rounder down in Low-A. Your affiliates were 2-5 with a rain suspension.
SYRACUSE 5 Buffalo 3
Chris Colabello had three hits and a homer. Is there room for him with the big club down the stretch? Jesus Montero had three hits as well. Dalton Pompey had a rough night in the leadoff spot. He was 0-5. Drew Hutchison pitched six innings of three run baseball.
New Hampshire 2 Richmond 4
Derrick Loveless homered, but the Fisher Cats collected just five hits on the evening. Wilmer Font allowed one run in five innings of work.
LAKELAND 11 Dunedin 6
Between Chris Rowley and Luis Santos the D-Jays allowed five homeruns. Richard Urena, however, had one in response. Urena ended the night with four hits to bring his BA to a point under .300. I gather the homer was Urena’s first from the right-hand side. Urena is turning into a nice little prospect. He probably needs another 1000+ at-bats in the minors and likely some extended time facing left-handed pitching, but switch-hitting SS who can stick are rare. Anthony Alford played the good leadoff hitter—he walked twice, stole a bag, and scored three times.
LANSING 3 Bowling Green 1
Justin Maese was excellent in six innings of work. He shutout the home Hot Rods and allowed just three hits and a walk. Maese also struck out six. The strike out has been hard to come by for Maese so far in his young professional career so let’s hope this is a sign of things to come. Max Pentecost led the way with the bat. He collected two hits, a double, and a walk. Pentecost also stole a bag.
Vancouver 1 EVERETT 6
T.J. Zeuch pitched three shutout innings, but the bullpen blew it. Zeuch allowed just one hit and struck out one. Cavan Biggio had a double and Rodrigo Orozco had two hits.
GREENEVILLE 1 Bluefield 0 Suspended Rain
GCL Blue Jays 1 GCL TIGERS WEST 5
Lane Thomas had two doubles and Guadalupe Chavez pitched six innings of two run baseball.
