Angel Perdomo dominated the Cubs to the tune of one hit over seven innings but Starlyn Suriel gave up a walk off home run. Dustin Antolin also gave up a walk off home run to blow a 2-1 Buffalo lead. Dunedin lost in a more conventional manner, Justin Shafer was hit around. John Anderson was also hit around but New Hampshire scored eleven to get him off the hook and get the only affiliate win.
Buffalo 2 Toledo 3
Dustin Antolin was called on to close with a 2-1 lead. Anthony Gose singled, Stephen Moya homered and the game was lost. Roberto Hernandez had started and he avoided serious trouble. In 5.2 innings he gave up ten hits and two walks but only conceded one run. Pat Venditte had five strikeouts among his seven outs.
Both of Buffalo's runs came in the eighth inning. Dalton Pompey and Andy Burns both singled. Matt Dominguez came through with a sac fly to tie the game. Jesus Montero singled in Burns to give the Bisons a brief lead. Burns and Montero had two hits each.
Buffalo won on Saturday behind Wade LeBlanc who hasn't allowed an earned run in 33 innings. Ryan Tepera had another two inning save and he has been dominant since he came down from the major leagues. Darrell Ceciliani had three hits and was a home run short of the cycle. Daniel Norris dominated the hitters on Friday and the Bisons were shutout. Scott Diamond took the loss.
Reading 8 New Hampshire 11
The Fisher Cats got their work done early, eleven runs in the first four innings. The Phillies outhit the Cats 15-12 but lost. The Jays got two runs in the first with a walk and a double, two errors and a wild pitch. It was a sign of things to come. Three more errors, and three hits, led to five runs in the second. A double from Christian Lopes was the biggest of the hits. New Hampshire scored three in the third, without an error, although there was a hit batter. Rowdy Tellez and Shane Opitz had doubles. Melky Mesa homered in the fourth to complete the scoring. Opitz had three hits, Lopes, Mesa, Berti and Matt Dean, two each.
John Anderson struggled through four innings and gave up six runs. Jason Berken added a couple of his own before Chris Smith and Matt Dermody shut the door.
Shane Dawson led the Fisher Cats to a Saturday win with a hot and cold start. Dawson threw the same number of balls and strikes and walked five hitters in six innings. He also allowed four hits but held the opposition to one run. Seven Hitters had a hit with Roemon Fields driving in the winning run with a triple. On Friday Wil Browning blew a three run lead in the ninth and the Fisher Cats lost in thirteen innings. Christian Lopes had four RBI and Ryan Lavarnaway had two hits in his first game.
Dunedin 4 Daytona 8
Justin Shafer was hit around for seven runs in 6.1 innings, a hole that Dunedin could not escape. Shafer's downfall was the third inning when he walked the bases loaded. A double and single made him pay.
The bottom of the order did most of the scoring for the Jays. DJ Davis, LB Dantzler and Jorge Saez each had two hits. Davis scored the first run on a Saez single and an error. Saez doubled in two more in the sixth. A solo home run from Jason Leblebijian accounted for the fourth run.
Dunedin were beat up 11-6 on Saturday. Kyle Westwood, Adonys Cardona and Tim Mayza each conceded multiple runs. Emilio Guerrero and Dickie Thon each had two hits. Francisco Rios pitched the first complete game for a Blue Jay minor leaguer on Friday, seven hits, one walk, three K's. He was helped along by 13 runs of support. Ryan McBroom, Emilio Guerrero and Derrick Loveless had three hits.
Lansing 0 South Bend 1
A walk off win in the bottom of the ninth won it for South Bend. Cubs prospect Eloy Jimenez homered off Starlyn Suriel. It ruined a great start from Angel Perdomo, he went seven innings and only allowed one hit. He walked three and struck out three.
Pitching dominated the game, each team had just three hits. Jacob Anderson and Gunnar Heidt had doubles but the Cubs had the big hit.
Jon Harris' good run ended on Saturday. He was hit around the park for eight runs, Gustavo Pierre gave up six. Gunnar Heidt was the lone bright spot, he was 3-4 with a home run. Ryan Cook, pitching in relief, took the loss for the Lugnuts on Friday. Ryan Hissey had two hits and a home run.
