Pawtucket, RI - Scott Copeland (11-6, 2.95) saw his season end on a down note. He pitched 5-1/3 innings and coughed up four runs on nine hits and four walks and a hit by pitch. The righty struck out six to go along with five groundball outs. Ben Rowen stranded a pair of runners and pitched 1-2/3 scoreless innings with one walk and two strikeouts. Bobby Korecky was bopped for two runs in the ninth on two hits and a walk with one punchout.
Matt Hague saved the Herd from the shutout with a two-run single in the eighth inning. Alex Hassan, Caleb Gindl and Jonathan Diaz all had two hits with Diaz contributing a double. Ty Kelly reached twice with a hit and a walk. Ryan Schimpf had a base hit while Andy Burns and George Kottaras drew walks. Danny Dorn was 0-for-4.
Trenton 2 New Hampshire 1 (Game 1 - 7 Innings)
Trenton, NJ - Single runs in the second and third innings was just enough for the Yankees affiliate in this one. Luis Perez (2-2, 3.78) pitched five innings and gave up the two runs on five hits and two walks while whiffing three. Wil Browning struck out one in a scoreless sixth.
A Dwight Smith Jr. fielder's choice in the fourth inning led to the Fisher Cats' only run, scoring a Roemon Fields base hit. Jorge Flores and Derrick Chung also put one in the hit column. Kevin Nolan and K.C. Hobson were both 0-for-3. The bottom of the order - Jack Murphy, Emilio Guerrero and Christian Lopes - had nothing to show for their combined six trips to the dish.
New Hampshire 1 Trenton 0 (Game 2 - 7 Innings)
Trenton, NJ - A leadoff walk by Martin Medina, an error at short and a Jorge Flores single in the fifth inning gave New Hampshire the doubleheader split. Medina had two walks on the night. Roemon Fields had a single and two stolen bases. Jack Murphy had a double and Kevin Nolan had a base on balls. Dwight Smith Jr., K.C. Hobson, Emilio Guerrero and Christian Lopes all went 0-for-3. Shane Opitz pinch-ran for Murphy and Matt Newman made a late-game appearance in right field.Danny Barnes pitched a no-hitter over four innings, walking one with five punchouts. Dustin Antolin (4-3) lost the no-hitter with one out in the sixth but struck out four over two scoreless innings. Blake McFarland had a strikeout in a shutout seventh for his 16th save.
Clearwater 6 Dunedin 1
Clearwater, FL - Denis Diaz's (0-1, 12.00) Dunedin debut did not go well. He was roughed up for four runs on seven hits and two walks over three innings but did strike out three. Griffin Glaude gave up two more runs on two hits and a walk in his first game with Dunedin but also struck out three. Brady Dragmire scattered three hits over two scoreless frames. Luis Santos shutout the Phillies affiliate in the eighth.
The D-Jays scored first when Anthony Alford started the game with a single and scored on an L.B. Dantzler double. Alford and Dantzler teamed up to provide four of the Jays' seven hits. Dickie Joe Thon, Boomer Collins and Aaron Attaway had the others. Matt Dean, Derrick Loveless and Ian Parmley were hitless in their four at-bats while Jorge Saez went 0-for-3.
Dayton 6 Lansing 3
Dayton, OH - This game was tied at 2-2 until the Reds affiliate pulled away with three runs in the seventh. Tim Mayza (3-2) was mauled for three runs on five hits and a walk over 3-2/3 innings but struck out three. Tom Robson started this one and pitched three innings of two-run ball on five hits and a walk but he whiffed five. Mark Biggs stranded a runner for Mayza but allowed an unearned run on two hits but had two K's over 1-1/3 innings.
Richard Urena got Lansing on the board with a solo home run in the first, his 15th poke of the season. D.J. Davis also went yard in the fourth, his seventh. Jason Leblebijian brought home the other run with a sacrifice fly in the eighth. Josh Almonte, Justin Atkinson and Danny Jansen also had base knocks with Almonte stealing a base. Urena also walked while Ryan McBroom was walked and plunked. Austin Davis earned a free pass but Chris Carlson went 0-for-4 and David Harris struck out in his lone plate appearance.
Vancouver 6 Everett 0
Vancouver, BC - The C's offence won this one 1-2-3 with one run in the first, two in the second and three in the third. A wild pitch scored an Andrew Guillotte single in the first. Rodrigo Orozco doubled home a run and he would score on a J.C. Cardenas sac fly in the second off former Jays farmhand Jacob Brentz. RBI singles by Juan Kelly, Orozco and Cardenas brought home the other three runs in the third. Orozco had two hits and a walk in his Nat Bailey Stadium debut. Cardenas, Ryan Hissey and Connor Panas all had a hit and a walk apiece. Carl Wise had a single in his lone plate appearance and scored on Orozco's second inning before leaving the game, leading to Ryan Metzler replacing him at third and Rolando Segovia entering the game at second for Metzler, who walked once in five plate appearances. Guillotte and Sean Hurley were hit by pitches while Segovia was 0-for-3 with a run scored.Angel Perdomo (2-0, 2.53) walked four batters but no-hit the Mariners affiliate through five innings. He gave his only hit to Northwest League MVP Drew Jackson to start the sixth but he struck out nine with four groundball outs over 5-1/3 innings. Dan Young stranded two runners for Perdomo to get out of the sixth and worked around two hits to get through the seventh. Sean Ratcliffe worked a one-hit eighth and Tyler Burden - in his debut at the Nat - overcame a hit and a walk in the ninth to preserve the shutout.
