The Jays affiliates are mostly limping to the end of the season. Only Lansing will keep playing past the weekend and all affiliates lost yesterday. Vancouver and the GCL Jays suffered 1-0 losses. For the GCL team it was the end of their season, they lost two games to none in the best of three final. Vancouver were eliminated from playoff contention after five straight years in the post-season. Buffalo had a bullpen loss, as did New Hampshire in extra innings. The game went to extras when Shane Opitz hit a two run, game tying, home run in the ninth. Lansing took a 4-0 lead to the ninth and had two outs with one baserunner on first. But Great Lakes scored seven runs with two outs for the win. But hey, Stroman!
Syracuse 6 Buffalo 2
This was yet another disappointing loss for Buffalo. Donn Roach was excellent with six shutout innings. But the Chiefs got to normally reliable Ben Rowen in the seventh for two runs and he put two on in the eighth. Chad Girodo then let those two runs score plus two of his own.
The Bisons had 11 hits but could only score two runs. Alex Hassan, Ryan Schimpf and Sean Ochinko had two hits each.
Portland 4 New Hampshire 3 - 10 innings
Sean Opitz hit a two run home run in the bottom of the ninth to tie the game. Portland scored a run off Wil Browning in the top of the tenth but the Fisher Cats loaded the bases with two outs in the bottom half. Emilio Guerrero grounded out to end the game.
Taylor Cole went 6.1 innings and gave up two runs to continue his streak of decent starts. KC Hobson had three hits, he and Opitz led the offense.

After Marcus Stroman left the game the Loons scored seven runs in the top of the ninth, all with two outs, and all charged to Carlos Ramirez. That took the spotlight off Marcus Stroman who dominated. I don't need to recap his start here, the details are in the threads from yesterday. His start Monday in AAA should be a bigger test for Stroman, although its the end of season get-away day so there could be a lot of early swings.
Richard Urena had two hits including a two run home run to get the Lugnuts on the board. Ryan McBroom doubled in a run and Chris Carlson singled in the fourth.
Vancouver 0 Tri-City 1
Vancouver were eliminated from the playoffs with this loss. They held Tri-City to just three hits but they couldn't get a hit themselves to score one of their six hits. Josh DeGraaf was the hard luck loser, in six innings he allowed two hits but one of them was a lead off double that scored. Vancouver had a lead off double too, in the fifth. After a sac bunt the next two hitters struck out and that was the difference in the game.
Six different hitters had a hit for Vancouver.
GCL Red Sox 1 GCL Blue Jays 0
This win made it 2-0 for the Sox in the best of three final. The first two hitters of the game singled for the Sox, leading to the only run of the game and the decisive run as it turned out. The Jays had three times where they had a runner on second base but again could not get the key hit. Juandy Mendoza, 20 years old 23rd round draft pick from a JC, was on fire for the playoffs. He had two hits yesterday and had a .700 average in the three playoff games.
The hard luck loser was Osman Gutierrez who pitched six innings but took the loss.
