Two standout pitching performances as the affiliates went 4-3 on the night.
BUFFALO 9 Charlotte 2
Dalton Pompey had three hits and a whole host of Bisons had two as our Triple-A affiliate hit their way to victory last night. Pompey looks to have recovered from his big league struggles to put together a nice little season between Double-A and Triple-A. Matt Hague and Luke Scott homered on the night. Randy Wolf got the win—pitching six and two-thirds of two run baseball.
NEW HAMPSHIRE 2 Richmond 0
Apparently twenty wins gets you in the record books in Double-A. Casey Lawrence recorded his twentieth win as Fisher Cat (and eleventh of the season), propelling himself ahead of Deck McGuire into the lead winning pitcher in franchise history. Lawrence, to his credit, was fantastic. He pitched seven shutout innings of four hit, for strikeout ball. K.C. Hobson drove in the two Fisher Cat runs. The game was delayed at one point due to rain.
DUNEDIN 3 Daytona 1
I gather Conner Greene is the type of pitcher who just throws a breaking ball eight mph faster from start-to-start. Greene may be my vote for most improved prospect. His velocity is up (even after 100 innings this year), he doesn’t walk many, and he looks like he’s starting to strike guys out. Rare you get a kid in their first season of full-season ball doing what he’s doing. On the night Greene struck out ten in seven innings of work. He allowed a solitary unearned run on two hits. No walks. Anthony Alford had a hit and two walks. He also stole a base. Matt Dean had a double.
WISCONSIN 6 Lansing 3
Lansing was a woeful 1-11 with RISP. The team left nine on base. D.J. Davis had two hits, so did David Harris, Boomer Collins, and Alex Maldonado. Starter Conor Fisk pitched five and a third of five run baseball.
SPOKANE 4 Vancouver 1
I attended this game and can firmly report there’s not much going on prospect-wise in Vancouver at the moment. Lane Thomas had two hits, but was poor in the field. His error in the seventh allowed a run to score and he lacks the instincts and probably confidence to play the position—a routine soft grounder he waited on earlier in game became a bang-bang play at first. Thomas hits were not well-struck hits either and few Canadians, if any, seemed to have a plan at the plate. None of the Canadians really pass the eye test. No physical specimens and no loud tools on display. Left fielder Connor Panas made several nice catches in left during the game, but had poor jumps on most—making routine plays look fairly difficult. His poor jumps caught up to him in the seventh as the Spokane team doubled over his head on a ball he should have caught. Watching minor league baseball can be quite sobering. The gulf between these guys and the big leagues is quite significant.

Bauxite favourite Jose Espada pitched four innings of one run baseball. He struck out four. Jake Thomas had two hits, including a homerun.
